getting my 3.0 back together after head re-build.

when I turned the engine over by hand I noticed some surface rust on a couple of the intake cam lobes.

Apparently it wasn't getting oil when I would periodically spray oil on the engine during my tare down.

    QUESTIONS:

    1. should I do anything to remove this rust or just run it?
    2. If I do anything what methods should I do or what products should I use?

someone I know suggested hitting it with evapo-rust.

Was it raining when you took it apart ?
I got some light sprinkles on my cams when I took them out. It created a little surface rust. I used a white scotch Brite pad (softest one) and dipped it in motor oil and removed the surface rust with it. It worked great. Got it all off, and coated the cam lobes in assembly lube (red) that the machine shop gave me.

I found the first open fire hydrant and worked on it there.

I will try that Furly, thanks for the suggestion.

The machine shop where I had my work done suggested Polyzag and cotton cuetip. The rust happened after I got it home from the shop
