    Need thoughts: 2013 S4

    Fellas (and ladies...) - Traction is gaining on this car. Wanted to see if anyone had any thoughts.

    I'd be the 3rd owner. The 1st owner leased it for a year and the 2nd owner picked it up, from the same dealer, and had it for about 16 months. The CarFax and AutoCheck are spotless. 1st owner had all the service done at University Audi in Seattle, I have to assume the 2nd owner did all of his/her own maintenance as nothing shows up on the reports after it was sold.

    According to the current dealer - The 1st owner was a GM at University Audi, the 2nd owner is a repeat customer of the current dealership, they claim the 2nd owner is meticulous with his vehicles and that it was well taken care of.

    A couple of things that are raise some "red flags"...

    ** The lack of detailed photos in the ad are odd.
    ** The dealer never performed a pre-inspection on the car when they brought it in.
    ** The dealer has kind of drug their feet the last couple of weeks, it seems strange that they don't seem motivated to sell the car

    I found a local indy shop that specializes in Audi that will perform a 3rd party inspection for me. If both the dealer inspection and the 3rd party check out, I'd probably fly out and look at it myself, if I'm happy with the car I'll likely drive it back to Denver.

    I believe its because there were two owners.

    Does that matter if Audi takes it back in? I think maybe it was tuned or not maintained by Audi and they aren't willing to do it.

    number of owners has nothing to do with CPO
    CPO'ing a car costs about 1500-2k to the dealer. it add's approx 4k to the sales price of the car. depending on what they offered on trade in they may just not have a lot of wiggle room to CPO the car.

    a used audi at a dealer not being CPO is not suspect at all.

    If it were me buying with just one year of factory warranty left and intending to keep it a while, I'd definitely be wanting some extra warranty.

    likewise. OP can always ask them to CPO the car if he is willing to pay for it. the price would reflect that CPO though.

    If it was tuned and consequently TD1'd, the dealership can reflash back to stock and warranty COULD return (upon AOA approval, of course). There was a post about this on another thread. The CPO part could be a lot of things. Here's a checklist I found (note that it doesn't mention multiple owners as a factor to disqualify CPO). https://www.audiusa.com/content/dam/...3-Combined.pdf

    IF the dealer refuses to CPO the vehicle, I'd wager it means there's an issue and step away, which is too bad because IMOLA :D

    It appears it went in service in 10/2012, so it only has 4 months left of factory warranty. OP should negotiate that for sure.

    Ah, that's probably why the CPO won't pass - no confirmation of service the past 4 years lol. They would need all the receipts from the dude I believe.

    It can't be CPO'd because the 2nd owner put a RS4 grille on it. I forgot to mention that in my initial post.

    According to Overturf, they said the only aftermarket change made to the car is the grille, otherwise it is on stock suspension; no tune, intake or exhaust has been added.

    Yea, I received a scan of the original window sticker and it indicates they are 19", 5-segment wheels. I guess it is possible that they were swapped out by the 2nd owner, I'll need to verify that as well.

    The wheels in the photos are definitely 19" peelers. Nice looking car.

    I also forgot to mention - According to CarGuru's the car is listed for about $2k under value and when I looked it up in Bluebook it was set right on the mark for average listings with the selected options.

    Should be fine - get the loan from a credit union and buy a extended warranty for like 2500 - that what i did on a used BMW - just check w/your credit union & dealer that they will honor the extended warranty and

    NADA has pretty limited options that I can select, but with the ones that were relivant that I could select, it kicked back a price of $36,900 under "clean retail".

    $500 high then, certainly a good place to start if we get to the point of negotiation.

    Just a friendly reminder that this good advice applies only if you have NO plans to tune. And if you think you fall in that camp, do not spend any time is a Stage 2 B8.5. :)

    Have a local member go and check out the car for you and get him/her to gauge the vibe of the dealer and car. It might help you make your decision. But for me it would be hard to pass up the exclusive color. My first S4 was a B5 Imola and I loved that color.

    According to the carfax it was sold to the second owner as CPO. If the car is still under factory warranty, can't they transfer the CPO to you since it hasn't technically kicked in yet?

    One thing that you can guarantee is that you will never see another B8.5 S4 in this color on the roads. I, myself, have never seen a B8.5 in Imola and I spend a considerable amount of time on the forums. You would think one of "us" would have one. Absolutely sweet.

    Good question... Overturf has been pretty unresponsive. Getting the vibe they don't really want to sell it to an out of state buyer...? I've also recently found out that it also has AudiCare until 57k miles, and there's been no mention of that either. Also find it odd, that if the car has AudiCare, why didn't the 2nd owner take the car to the dealer for scheduled maintenance? Nothing in the CarFax indicates dealer work under the 2nd owners watch.

    They finally completed a pre-inspection yesterday, more than a week after we requested this information. And even then that report indicates they only changed the oil, there is no information on the condition of the tires or breaks or anything else.

    They don't seem interested in letting me get a 3rd party inspection completed either. I had a local indy shop lined up and willing to pick the car up, and they don't seem in a hurry to make the care available for that either.

    As much as I dig this car, looking like I'm going to turn my attention elsewhere. Overturf told my broker at one point that they wouldn't take a deposit from us because if they were able to line up a local buyer they'd sell it to that person before us.

    Imola Yellow wasn't offered in 2013, it was a "very special request", and it cost the original owner a good chunk of money to get it.

    it was available as a audi exclusive order for 8K upcharge. I thought about doing it but decided it wasn't worth it.
