Question for those with milltek exhausts

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I have an rs7 thinking about adding the milltek exhaust. A few questions for those of you that have done it already.

    1. Can a basic muffler repair/replacement shop do the installation or do you need an Audi certified tech since it has a sport and non sport setting connected to the car computer?

    2. Will this void a factory warranty or certified preowned audi warranty?

    3. Any droning issues?

I have the same questions you do. I'll be following this thread. By the way, do you currently have the Sport exhaust? I asked my Audi dealer about installation and they won't do it. They won't install anything that is not made by Audi. I asked a high-end body shop and they said they could do it no problem.

Not an apples to apples comparo, but I have the non-res Milltek on my S6. Previously I had Milltek systems on my B8 and B6 S4's. I have a bit of drone in D mode at the right RPMs. Almost a vibrating like feeling/sound that at times has me questioning whether it's touching the body of the car somewhere. I have gotten used to it, but it was annoying after the initial installation. Non-issue is S mode for some reason, and if not for the ridiculously violent 3rd-to-2nd downshift at anything other than hyperspeed, I would just keep the car in S mode. Can't speak to the RS7, but all of my Milltek systems have bolted up to the car and my local tuning shop has been able to do the install. On my B8 S4, my neighbor and I knocked it out on jack stands in my garage. No fitment issues. I have never heard of Audi voiding warranties based on an exhaust, but that's an open question and could blow in whatever direction the Audi winds are blowing. Tunes, and suspension mods are usually warranty killers, with intakes possibly as well since Audi specifically mentions them in their TD-1 guideline letter to dealers. I have never had a dealership give me any flak about an exhaust.

    1. No, any shops who have experience working with exhausts replacement will do

    2. No, with Miltek you can't claim warranty for anything that might be related to exhausts like valve system obviously but they can't avoid the CPO warranty entirely just because you have an aftermarket exhausts.

    3. In the cold climate you may hear some drone when you start the engine but other than that there is literally no drone at least to my ear.

I can't answer #1 or #2. As for #3, I have a '16 RS7 with Milltek resonated exhaust (which replaced the OEM sport exhaust) and there's no droning. I'm used to droning as my b8 S4 had non-resonated AWE exhaust. The Milltek resonated exhaust sounds absolutely amazing in my opinion.

    Good luck!

Relatively easy install - did it myself. Pretty much bolts right up and you just have to unplug the valve system and plug it back in after completing the install. I do not have any drone to speak of and I have the non-resonated system. I would have been disappointed if I did not get the non-resonated system, as even it is not that loud. My car had the sport exhaust. Now granted, I have had some relatively loud cars/exhaust in my past :-))

I installed it on my '15 rs7 in my garage in about 2 hours, taking my time, but I have a lift.

Can't imagine it would affect the warranty at all.

No drone on the highway in non-sport can't even tell it has an exhaust system on it unless you have it in sport mode, or hammer it

I have the non resonated version

See signature for what I have.

My advice do it, get the DP's too. Sounds incredible, I love it. No drone, is quiet for the most part in anything other then dynamic mode or when you slam the hammer down. Get compliments where ever I go on how great it sounds. Highly advise.
You can have tuner shop install.
Warranty, well it's a modification, there is always a risk.
