    Deatschwerk DW300 pump - what kit/filter

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
A few years ago I bought the DW300 9-301-1000 (Application(s): Universal). The filter that came with the kit did NOT fit. I had to make an adapter to use the stock filter.
    They are offering various kits.
Does someone know what kit fits the A6/Allroad 2.7T basket?

Generic one if you make your piece with a fact that it will have to lay there flexed up.

I am pretty sure from the 10-20 listed there is one that fits our car or at least is more suitable for our car.

IF this is the strainer with this kit, then yes, that would be a good fit:

    Here is their answer.

    Note:
    DW65 is a 1.8T pump.

    Note:
All 2001-2003 Allroad fuel pumps are the same. The 'VAG' disclaimer below is nonsense.

Conclusion: they don't have a clue regarding their pump's application.

I would recommend reviewing our DW65v fuel pumps as the model year of your Audi should put it within the year ranges our pumps fit.

Do note, there are 2 versions, FWD (9-654-1025) and AWD (9-655-1025). The AWD pump has an addition outlet that many of the OE pumps have to drive the scavenging system on the other side of the saddle tank.

Being as VAG uses many different parts within their chassis generations, and even so within a single model year, we strongly encourage you to refer to the installation guide on the DW site and compare the pump and pump assembly to your car's actual pump and pump assembly to ensure the pump fitment is correct:

Jesus, you're really OCDing on this man. If you want proven working solution, get generic side strainer and just jam it in there. Works for 100s/1000s of installs in C5/B5 platform. Works for me too. Zero problems even with 5 cents worth of fuel left in tank.

If you want something that might fit better, invest $20 and get the 1020 that you found yourself and report back, maybe you'll contribute something to the community this way and help others who will be looking for replacement pump in the future.

Julex: the question was: "Is that a 'guess' or did you actually install this sock into a C5 basket?"
A simple "I don't know but love to guess" would have sufficed. No need to drag Jesus into my thread.
Or "I like to jam stuff into stuff rather than finding a correct solution, and then pray to Jesus that it actually works" (here: filter stays on and actually preventing dirt from getting into the pump).

This one came yesterday. Will see if/how this works. One guy reported he is running it, but C5 basket is lower (that is one reason why we cannot use the 044, only the 040):

Through the years I used numerous pumps on this platform, first it was walbro 255 (this one actually took stock sock), then couple of variations of DW300 pump (side sock since nothing else was available) then Walbro 400/416/450 (side sock again) as my power went to 650WHP. Never had any issues with side socks since they are very flexible and outlet is fastened with star lock washer... I addition, due to basket being so shallow, the pump always practically pushes the sock against bottom of fuel pump well so that's additional reason why it will never come off.

Thanks for trying the other options, can you get 1020 kit since you're in there now and report if that's a 100% best fit in there although I hope the one you got fits well as well.

Julex, How noisy is the Walbro 450? Is it noticeable?

I swaped in a DW 300 with their universal kit. I had to break off one of those retaining pieces to rotate the new sock in a way that would fit. It was NOT the sock in the picture, it was square. 10 months later no issues. I actually felt a difference with this pump VS old. Soon i will see how it holds up to stage 3 fueling requirements.

This is before i realized that the sock would need to be rotated. You also need some O rings or something to hold the new pump in the basket. Its slightly smaller.

One concern with the 450 mentioned elsewhere is the height (with the discharge going straight up). Will see if it works in the allroad.

Noise: I heard the 450 is NOT as bad as the old Walbro. Still, the Deatschwerks is 'unhearable'. On one of my other Allroads (the one with the Deatschwerks), I will soon try E85 (got confirmation from Deatsch that it is compatible), I will find out in a few weeks (hopefully; keep saying this since June last year) if the pump can supply enough flow for my setup after converting to E85 (I keep the current 750cc nozzles, and are prepared to run out of fuel (limiting the peak HP, not that important anyways, just want to run 25 psi to redline (currently on pump gas, ECU timing pull dictates that I have to drop boost from the 29 psi at 3500 slowly to just 20 psi at redline 7200).

walbro 450 is inaudible but hard to fit into C5 due to height.

Here is a pretty good article comapring pumps:

I forced her in yesterday. Now trying to get a prime signal. Will look into that today (probably have to dig the pump out again to see what is going on; or do car diagnostic is no prime signal is going to the pump connector).

DW300 will not work safely for E85 with 750cc if you're anywhere near 90% IDC or more on these, which I am sure you'll hit. 750cc * 6 (cyliders) * 60 (minutes) = 270,000 cc/h or 270l/h needed to be supplied at 100% IDC. According to test at 13.5 of aeromotive stealth which is exactly the same as DW pumps, it can supply about 220l/h at the boost level you want it to run. And that's at 13.5 which you won't have (assuming you're going to direct wire the pump to battery too since if you're not, then you MIGHT have 12V if that there, see my post about voltage drops here: http://www.audizine.com/forum/showth...=1#post9080791) when pulling at WOT. I routinely log abou 13.1 - 13.2 when doing WOT pulls.

If maxing out the 750cc (at high rpm) I need the 270 l/h flow, which is about the max the pump can deliver (according to DW chart) at 25 psi boost (85 psi pressure, 4 bar FPR - 58 psi) and 15 Amps. So car will be either injector or fuel pump limited at the top and like I said, and will be tuned accordingly. No issue there, since low/midrange is the important part.

Or stick the phat boy (Walbro 450) in later and 'detune' by running of stock wiring (so pump is not pushing around massive amounts of fuel that are not needed; hope the return fuel capacity is sufficient).
