yes you heard me right I need to make my 99 a6 2.8 auto AWD to FWD. the reason I am doing this is I got the car for free and I am gunna use it in the demolition derby but the car has to be 2wd and I would prefer it to be FWD over RWD. if I just weild up the center diff and pull the rear drive shaft then it should drive in FWD just fine? right??. I know people do this when they want to make their car RWD so I thought it would work fine the other way. any input??

the computer is gonna give you hell but yeah physically welding the diff will indeed stop the rear wheels from powering

The A6 is a poor choice for a demolition derby. A relatively mild smack on the nose will render the car useless and the front end isn't as robust as other cars.
