Opinion needed. Getting the tint done on my new B9 A4 so what would you do or chose.

Where I live the front door windows have to be like this (considered legal) which is a 70% tint maximum (30% light blockage only) like in the pictures below.

However the rear door windows and back window can be anything you want. In these pictures the rear sides are at 45% tint (55% light blockage) and the back glass (hard to see) is at 35% tint (65% light blockage). They call this a "gradual tint" from front to rear (from lightest to darkest).

So there are 3 options available...

1- Use the legal 70% tint (lightest tint) all around?

2- Use the same legal 70% tint on both the front and rear door windows and go 35% on the back window?

3- Or go gradual as in the pictures below: 70% legal tint up front, 45% on the back door windows and 35% on the back window only?

Keep in mind the car as a black interior.

Tint all the windows as dark as you want... Most people have tint even though it is illegal.

Tint is read in percentage of visibility, so the lower the number.. the darker the tint. From what you are saying it seems the rear doors are darker than the back glass? I'm assuming you mean otherwise. In my state it's 50% for the front doors, and 35% for the rear doors and rear glass (legally). I just went with 35% all around. The front's are a little past the legal limit but I doubt i'm going to get any heat for it. If you're paranoid about getting pulled over then stick with the legal limit. If you think your local law enforcement won't give you too much crap about them.. go a little darker. Up to you.

Ok just to clarify my percentage numbers... the front doors windows must allow 70% of the light through (my 30% number) to be legal. The rest of the windows can be anything so my 55% and 65% numbers are really 45 % and 35% of the light going through those windows. So the original numbers I was given by my dealer were the actual blockage of the light going through those windows.

Just make sure you go to a really good tint shop, the dot matrix on rear windshield is really hard to get right.

Keep it the same though, don't do different percentages on the different windows, IMO it doesn't look good during the day

ive always tinted my cars 35% all around and i live in NYC. You know most of these cops out here are pieces of shit but ive honestly have never been pulled over. During the day you can see inside just fine but at night it looks pitch black! Its a sweet spot for tints to be honest. It also depends on color of the interior, Black interior will make the tints look much darker than they really are for obvious reasons as opposed to different interior colors such as light gray or beige.

Use the lightest tint from 3m.. the crystalline version... simply the best tint....

Option 3.

The red A4 pictured looks fine. While I'm a proponent of using a single tint % throughout the car...if you have to go as light as 70% front, a gradual increase probably looks best. It just looks bad when two adjacent windows are different gradients, so any attempt to minimize that should improve the look.

I have yet to get pulled over for my tint here in PA...I'm running 18%. I say either leave it, or get matching percentages all around.

To be clear, I've had 20% or darker on every vehicle I have owned and have never received a ticket for it in my life.

I went 30% Rayno S9 all round, love it, great performance, I am going to also do the front windshield with a very light tint soon
