Help me find my dream RS4

Hello All!

My name is Izzy and I fell in love with the RS4 in 2007/2008 when I worked as a porter at Gwinnett Audi. The salesman who showed me the car and ended up being my best friend also made me the Godfather to his son, so this car means a lot to me. I want to find the cleanest Black on Black OEM RS4. Sedan only. I want something mint or as close to mint as possible. I just landed a great new job so I plan on buying this car as a gift to myself on Feb.9th, 2017. My birthday. I want to celebrate driving with fellow RS4 owners. I have no idea where to start or how much to save up for this purchase so please educate me on that as well.

Also, I'm not scared of miles because this is the first and last daily I ever want to own. I plan on passing this car down to my son. And his son. So miles aren't a big deal. But it has to be in great condition. Thank you all for reading.

Lots to digest here, but first welcome to AZ!

I don't own an RS4, but from my occasional online search out of curiosity, it looks like you can get into an RS4 sedan for anywhere between mid to high 20s with a bunch of miles; low 30s with less miles; or high 30s to mid 40s for a car with low miles. Obviously mileage is usually a general determinant of condition, as well as maintenance issues. Carbon build up is a well known issue with the 4.2s, but from my understanding, is also one of the only real short comings of the engine. Being that you have a decent amount of time before you plan to pick one up, I would suggest you begin your search in the following manner:

- Being researching what your must haves are for the car. 2007-08 the tech was pretty good, but make sure you're getting all of the options you want first; transmission is a big one that comes to my mind, and manual would be my ONLY option personally.

- Audizine will help you with all of these little questions; whether it be existing threads or creating new, but search for existing threads first.

- Begin searching online - Autotrader; Cars.com; Audizine; Audi's used network - they aren't hard to find, but the answers to the above questions will help to focus your search.

- When you find one that has everything you're looking for, be sure to drive the car and have a PPI done by a third party to highlight any troubled areas. Again, maintenance is expensive with Audi's in general, but especially on the RS4, so be sure that ALL major service intervals have been recorded.

- This is the hardest one: don't be afraid to walk away, there's nothing worse that regretting your decision, and if the car isn't right, it's not right, so don't buy it.

I'm sure others with RS4s can chime in here, but this is where I would begin personally. Good luck!

Beautiful reply brother. Thank you for taking the time to type that out. I'm humbled beyond words. I only want a 2008 model. Fully loaded with all options. Manual only. Black only. I don't care about the color of the interior. As low miles as possible in my desired color. ONLY BLACK. no matter how perfect or low mile. I found a yellow one with 23K miles and a sliver one in Denver or Tahoe that's 55K and has 23K miles. Original tires still on the car. I plan on buying that one if I can't find what I want in black. Then I'll just paint that mother****** black lol (excuse my language lol). Thank you all for listening and chiming in.

Imola yellow isn't my style, but I have certainly grown to appreciate the diversity it brings to the Audi table. Don't paint an Imola car black! While it would technically be your car to do as you please with, many will never forgive you. I'm not sure of the exact specs for 2008, but Imola is a rare breed; while there are plenty of black examples for you to choose from. Welcome to the forum. You're seem little bit excited. Take a step back and read up on the car. You'll learn that they only come in a manual. Also, your quest for black seems to be swayed by a perfect car as you state in the same paragraph, "Only Black" and then go on to say, I'll buy the silver or Yellow one of I can't find a black one. Last but not least, you don't want to paint the car as that would be another 10k on top of your purchase price and it looks like you're currently trying to save the scratch to get it next year.

Damn it's perfect!! The exact car I want. But the miles are too much. He drove it 15,875 KM a year and I can't handle that. Guess I'll just buy the one in Lake Tahoe for 55K. Fuck it. I'll wrap it and recreate the look.

I would jump on it...Titanium with low miles is very hard to find. That is a very nice car. Closest colour to black, you may just like it the way it is. Good luck!

Good luck with sale but your car just jumped to the top of my list brother. Especially if I can get the OEM RS4 rims that I love so much. If you can get the car to look as stock as possible before I buy in Feb I'd appreciate that very much. Mileage is perfect. If you have mods please return it back to stock or as close to stock as possible. I'll want to see all service records and do a PPI. And if everything is perfect, I will buy your car sir. Nah but I figure if I make my intentions known early by the time I can afford to buy everyone will know about it, so finding he best Black Low Mileage RS4 should be a breeze. I'm kinda broke an asshole because I'm using all y'all and his forum to make my search easier. But I believe it's worth it and now I know there's several RS4 owners in Atlanta. I'm in Gwinnett County and I can't way to cruise with y'all brothers. If y wanna help in my search please hit me up. If you want to have and bring negativity into my life, please stay away. Hey Izzy, you are all over the board, take a minute and be patient.

In your original post you said mileage didn't scare you but above you say you can't handle the mileage of a car that was driven 10k miles (15,875km) a year? It's great to start looking but I doubt you'll be buying any of the cars you see listed, keep researching and you'll get a good idea on how much you need to set aside. There is a black one in Pa w/ 10k miles that has been on the market for a while so you might have a shot there....assuming it's still actually for sale.

Fellas the advice is noted. This is the tough love and advice I came on here. THIS IS WHAT I WANT. all of you are helping me refine my search and for that you have my humble thanks.

Yes mileage is of no matter because I plan on never selling that particular car but starting out I'd like to have as low mileage of an option as possible. That way I have more car and miles to make memories with. I'll check out the cars recommended. Thank you for saving me $17K as well. I know my eagerness leaves a lot of questions unanswered but I am an open book. There is nothing you can ask me or of me that I will refuse. Thank you all in advance for the help and for reading. This one is in my city. Just an 'fyi'- It has been up on the local classifieds (ksl.com) for quite a while.... about 4-6 months if memory serves, so they may be willing to play ball on the price. If you get serious on this one, I can post some names of good independent Audi shops here in Salt Lake City to perform a PPI.

Hey brothers. Thanks for all the kind words. I'm a mad genius is all I can say. Clinically diagnosed by the way lol. IQ is 175 but that comes with serious ADHD and slight bipolarness. I'm not ashamed to admit that because in the African community we are taught to hold it all in. That's what they riot. Because if you said you wanted a therapist they'd call you crazy. As far as the car I'm picky lol. But I work in a career that allows me to generate great sums of money in a short period of time. In 90 days of like to buy that car cash. I LOVE WORKING IN THE HEALTHCARE FIELD LOL.

I'm sure this all sounds like internet troll garbage but it's very real and the pictures I'm going to post will prove that. I love forward to cruising with my fellow RS4 brothers.

I'm in medical sales. My company created a device that cuts the costs for drug and blood tests in half. I make 20 percent straight commission for every client I bill. We save clients $10 per test on average. Not a lot but when you have a hospital like Emory university that does thousands of test a month, it adds up. I make 20 percent per client lol. Honestly I've been too forth coming.

I have no interest in opening closed minds. If you think I'm a troll or scammer that's fine. I'm willing to show any mod my business cards and the website for my company. And you can call me on my office number so you can see I'm real.

No worries man, it's just a very different type of thread. My only piece of advice is take your time and find the right car for you, don't rush the decision. There are several of us on here that searched for months before finding the right car, including myself. I can be quite impulsive with car buying, so I know the struggle, but I waited over 6 months to find my current RS4 and am very glad I did. The right car will come along!
