    cylider inside intake manifold broke??

Someone please take a look at these pics and let me know if these look normal.

I removed the actuators from the from of the front of the intake that turn the cylinder insider the intake manifold.

I took pics of both mating surfaces of the actuator side and the cylinder side. I am not sure but it looks like the tabs or ears may be broken.

I would like to know the following:

    1. can someone let me know if both of these look broken or not.
    2. can someone post some pics of what they are supposed to look like
    3. are either end of this rebuildable; the actuator mating surface or the cylinder mating surface.

    thanks

This looks like 2.0t intake stuff. You're better off asking in the B7 forum. The B6 didn't come with the FSI engines.

Edit* unless that is from a 3.0.

This honestly looks like mine did when I disassembled it last year, and it looks more intact than mine currently is. Check out my thread

There is supposed to be a small spring that fits inside the cylinder 'nipple' that keeps pressure between the devices. Mine was shredded, two times over. I've decided to bite the $388 bullet and get a new one. ECS had the best price I could find.

Some people just let the cylinder stay in the intake, others just remove it. What happens is at ~4500 rpms, the cylinder switcges so that air is directed to a different runner. Making more power. Some people say they can't tell the difference with or without the cylinder. I noticed a huge difference when I replaced mine. Keep an eye on eBay. Mostly people sell the unit with the intake manifold, but some people will sell just the cross over.
