quick question and simple question regarding the rear-view mirror

    Hi guys,

For the B8.5 A4 (probably the same with older model A4 also) the rear view mirrors mounting, there is a small slits on the plastic, It looks either to be; some sort of Speaker or Vent.

The reason I ask is that I had mounted the dashcam directly in front of the rear view mirror and in front of the slit pattern and wondered if it would affect it in any way.

    Can anyone shed some light?

attached is a picture of an A4 as I couldn't find one for the A4, it looks slightly different with probably additional components:

    Cheers,

I would guess that those are light and rain sensors, but I'm not sure.

The picture you linked shows a mirror with highbeam and lane assist. The slits in the front are for a sensor related to the AC, as I recall humidity. The sensor is only there on cars with the dual zone AC. The rain/light sensor is at the base of the mirror against the windshield.
