    Custom induction intake

I decided to make my own intake and heat shield. It's not quite finished as I need to cool wrap the pipe work and heat shield, but I'm happy so far, only cost around £100 for everything.

Where your hood go? Also I dunno If i would run a sponge filter. Unless it has a paper filter or cotton underneath. You want filter action still so your not letting large dirt particles through.

The bonnet or hood as you call it closes with no problems. I've never had any issues with using a foam filter and I've had them on everything from Ford escort cosworths to my A5 3.0 tdi to this. Revo uses a foam filter for their intake kit also.

Where did you get the piping? Custom bent or did you buy it off ebay? My old a4 i custom built an intercooler with ebay piping. Came out great and i spent 1/4 the cost of a name brand while still using a name brand core. Been contemplating doing this for an intake on the s4 as well.

Yes it's aluminum except the angled piece in the front that directs air. I put reflective heat wrap on the engine side also.

Is it just a 90 degree and a 45 degree pipe with silicone couplers?

Yes m8 76mm diameter. I'll list all the bits below, obviously you can choose whichever filter you like.

    90 degree 76mm ally bend
    45 degree 76mm ally bend
    X2 76mm silicone couplers
    Pipercross C0187 filter
Mini filter with 25mm neck for the breather pipe under the air box
    25mm straight plastic coupler
8mm barbed hose take off coupler.
X2 P clips with rubber inserts one 80mm the other 13-16mm diameter (this is to secure the fuel hose to the pipe work) I'm sure there would be other solutions to this though.

Have you logged air mass to see if you're getting additional flow?
