Brake light message on LCD

How does the computer generate the alarm? All of my tail lights work and I am still getting the message on the display.

I can't imagine it is shorting out or anything because the lights wouldn't work. Mice may have gotten at the wiring.

Noob question- is the cluster supposed to be lit up without the lights on? This is my first S4 and the A4 clusters do not light up until the lights are turned on.

My cluster lights are always on, lights on or not. I also had a brake light warning come up, and my lights were also working. Changed the bulbs, no problems since then. Gl

^i had the same issue as this guy in my volvo. changed the bulbs and brake light warning on dash hasnt lit up. could have been a bad or dirty contact on the bulb, who knows

Ok great, I will try some new bulbs tonight to see if that works. Kinda funny that both lights work but the message is still on. I took the panels off last night but did not remove the bulbs.

On a side note, my brake warning light is also on and I already shorted them. I'll have to see if one of the clips inside the fender liner is broken or otherwise not clipped in

No, they are regular halogen bulbs. I should mention that the license plate lights did not work because of corrosion on the terminals. I need to get new lenses for them.
