    Turbocharger coolant line leak?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Ever since my Audi SA mentioned the turbo lines slightly leaking, I've been monitoring it. My dealer was going to replace it at the time, but the big guys upstairs say that the slight leak is normal. Today, when I got my car back from the APR shop, I looked again at the turbos and noticed the liquid to be fresh as opposed to hardened as before. Looks like it is on both turbos. According to the parts schematic it seems to be the 'turbo coolant lines or oil lines'. Has anyone had this issue before? Should I have Audi revisit this issue?

I think this is TSB 2036167/2 . Technical Service Bulletin // 19 Coolant pipe seepage on turbocharger

    Technical Background
There may be slow coolant loss from the connections of the coolant feed pipe and coolant return pipe. High temperatures cause the coolant to become encrusted on the connection flange of the turbocharger.

    Production Solution
Modified coolant feed pipes, coolant return pipes, and o-rings. Service
    1.Drain the cooling system.
2.Replace the coolant feed pipes and coolant return pipes for both cylinder banks. 3.Replace the oil feed pipe o-rings.
4.Tighten the coolant line and oil line hold-down bolts to 9nm.
5.Fill and bleed the cooling system.

    Claim Type:
    110

Do anyone know the average price of getting the turbocharger coolant return line replaced on a 2015 S7. I think audi is out their mind for what they quoting me. I know there's a leak and was told it's the coolant return line to the turbocharger. Thanks in advance

Maybe ask them to do it with the screen recall...should be less labor then.

To answer your question, the coolant return line o-rings would be easy. I would bet you could do those yourself in 15 minutes. Those are the fittings closest to the exhaust manifolds on both sides. They head towards the back of the engine.

The oil and coolant feed lines both appear to require the removal of the PCV. This would be a lot of labor. For the record, the oil feed lines are the ones in the middle.

If your quote is super high, I would imagine they quoted doing all of the o-rings. And in that case, as gk1 says, oil screen time.

Question: My S6 in the shop for the screen recall. Did you have the O rings replaced at the same time and what was the cost? They are quoting me $800 to replace the o rings while it's in the shop. Crazy!

It should be included as part of the recall, but who knows for sure if they do it or take shortcuts or modified the original TSB for a cheaper recall.
For me they actually broke my o-rings during the screen change and I had to change them myself again.

They are listed right in the TSB along with several others.
    N 91056801- Upper oil supply o-rings 12x2 black 2
    N 90303801 - Lower oil supply o-rings 9x1.5 black 2
