help- rubber track under shifter broken

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Hello friends, wanted to see if anyone could offer me some advice. The car is a 2004 a4 3.0

I got a penny stuck in the bottom half of the rubber track beneath the shift knob (automatic) and it has ripped off. While the car still runs fine, it is now unable to recognize if it's in sport mode or using the tip tonic shifter.

Wanted to see if you guys could offer any instructions as to how I could fix this and if it can be done without replacing the whole assembly.

    Thank you!

Thanks man. Do you remember taking the circuit board off under there and if it's just pulled out by force from the slot?
