What can I get for my car?

Thinking about putting my car up for sale. There aren't many for sale locally. They range from $18900 (premium plus) to $23000 (low mileage prestige) Mine is a 2010 prestige with 90K and a few custom things done including all the chrome professionally wrapped, wrapped bumper lights, RS grill, freshly painted new bumper and clear bra on the whole front end and mirrors. I would like at least $20k for it, what do you guys think?

The mods (grill, bumper lights) are not going to add value except if it is an enthusiast who purchases it. I think $20K is a stretch. Kelly Blue book is putting value at $19.5K and NADA is putting it at$17.9K. In my experience, KBB Tends to run high.

I agree with Sin's analysis. However, when I used KBB's website I got a private party sales price of $16 to $17 depending on condition. Of course prices vary by area.

Only if someone is specifically looking for that. Rare doesn't mean expensive. Supply and demand requires demand.

Only way to know is throw it on Trader and start the price where you think you would like it. After a week or two, reevaluate. We can sit and speculate all day but if you're selling it, then start by listing it...You can always change the price later.

Car is worth what books for what determined if its hi or low end book depends on service its had and needs. Mods do nkt add anything except bonuses to buyer if they want that.

If you install factory options that the car did not come with then that is the only modifications that add value. Aftermarket are only bonus if buyer wants that and can also hinder it as some peoples taste doesnt match others.

Best to remove all aftermarket mods and list it at strong kbb value to give room for negotiations.

The market will determine what it sells for. List your car competitive with what other models with similsr optjons sell for.

A lot of people get hung up on trying to get a small amount more by sticking to their price rather than just making the sale and moving on.

I sold my 05 with 95K for 6500. The value on these cars seems to be tanking unfortunately.

05 is a different generation not comparable at all. Even comparing same body style is hard to compare with all different options and factors. Different gen has no revelence at all for comparison.

In NA the 2005 is a C6 and the same generation as the 2006.

Yep, it was a C6 with every option available (minus cold weather and the V8) in good condition with semi low miles (95Kish). C6s just aren't worth what they used to be. 6.5s are a little better though.

I typically monitor depreciation too, this was the curve over the time period when I had the car.

I agree. I saw this happening over the last 8 months and back in April unloaded my 2008 A6 PremPlus with nav, cold wx, and tech. It has 76k on it, was black on black and was cosmetically and mechanically in really great shape but needed tires and the Adams rotors I had on it were warped. I got 13500$ for it, fwiw

I guess it's good for buyers though. That's a lot of car for the money. What did you get to replace it?

It's pretty amazing how much more these cars cost now. For instance, I bought my 08 A6 when it was 3.5 years old for 25000. It had 32k on it. Now, to buy a similar A6 with the same options, age and miles would be easily in the thirties, prob about 33,000$. The newer gens command a lot more now, relatively.

I don't know why I never did that, probably because I'd forget to do monthly checks. But still awesome none the less, I'll try it.
