    Wrap vs Dip?

I have an '07 Q7 that's silver and I'm grabbing some new 20" wheels for it and I want to make it black. I have heard a lot about wrapping and dipping cars and how each one is better than the other but I want to hear from people who have used any of these methods and what are the best products.

The car is silver. I want it to be black. Which one is better for someone on a budget? I do all the work on my cars myself, so which would be the most amateur friendly to install? How long will each product last? And does it damage the original paint on the car? I'm looking to resell the car eventually and I want to be able to take it back to a stock look.

Thanks for any help you guys can give me, want to do this right the first time.
Just remember, it could always be a hell of a lot worse...

    1. Paint
    2. Wrap
    3. Dip

In order of quality and cost. Couldn't tell you anything about DIY on these although I've seen some DIY and they looked it...

    Agreed with the above.

A good vinyl wrap job is infinitely better looking than PlastiDip. But, the cost (and skill level required if DIYing) is much higher. I'd never dip a car, personally. The quality just isn't there.

I wouldn't dip a SUV, I dipped my wheels red on my s4 when I had it and it looked great for about a week, it's very hard to clean, dirt likes to get into tiny pores in the dip and won't come out. Wheels started red became maroon and ultimately reddish grey. And what a pain to remove..

If you want to save some money, try wrapping some of the easier pieces yourself. Trunk, hood, and roof leave the bumpers to the professionals.
