93 2.8L 12 Valve Fuel rail connections, fuel pressure regulator direction?????

Stupid move by me here. I am working on a 93' 90 with a 2.8 for my daughter's boyfriend. He bought this for next to nothing with a blown head gasket. Done the job, performed leak down, fixed all the vacuum lines and tried to start it and flush the cooling system. No fuel. I pulled the injectors and they are pulsing but no fuel. It occurred to me that the only lines I didn't mark were the fuel lines to the rail. They seemed like they should only go on in one way do to length and positioning but that put the supply line to the vacuum operated fuel pressure regulator. Connected that way, there is nothing going past the regulator and to the injectors. The return is empty but the supply line is pressurized. If I reversed the lines, the engine purrs.

I have spent hours looking for a diagram, but cannot tell if the regulator is supposed to be in on the supply or return line. I don't want to kill all 6 injectors due to higher pressure than normal. Anybody able to help me with this? Which way is that regulator supposed to flow?

There has to be somebody out there who still knows about the 12V 2.8. Anybody know if the supply or return line should be on the regulator?
