    Aftermarket Oil Pan with baffling

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I swear I've seen an aftermarket oil pan offered for our cars that claimed some baffling to help keep the oil around the pickup, but I can't find it in any of my searches.

Did I just imagine that or is there one out there that does such a thing?

I've just seen the oil pan ECS and USP sell, they look identical.

Still no luck finding an aftermarket solution so onto DIY.

Anyone have a pic of the bottom end when they switched out their plastic pan for a steel one. I'm going to attempt to make a pan if I can get a picture and have a decent amount of confidence in how to design around the pickup.

Thank you but that doesn't fit the 8V S3 according to USP's site.

I just rec'd an email from ECS that they have come out with a stainless fully welded pan that 1. Holds an additional liter of oil 2. there is a baffle, not sophisticated, but something.

Seeing as I track my car, the extra oil capacity and baffling are worth it.

I bought the ECS pan and it arrived today. All I can say is that it could probably take a 9mm at point blank range and come out unscathed. It's a hoss. The extra oil capacity, baffling and magnetic drain plug will all be nice insurance at the track. Hoping the extra capacity will help with the oil temp. I'll report back after my event at VIR in early Nov.

Haven't done it yet, but looks very easy, you just need to get the car up on jacks with enough room to maneuver under the oil pan with a torque wrench. You will need a torque wrench that goes inch-lbs, vs ft lbs and do the math, because the torque value is light on the fasteners. 6.6 ft-lbs. Most torque wrenches don't go below 20.

From a review I read, you'll want the car to drain with the pan off overnight to make sure you don't have oil contaminating the sealing surface when you do the final wipe down with brake cleaner. While I had my car on the jacks doing the 034 rear sub frame inserts two weekends ago I checked everything out prior to ordering to make sure it would be as easy as it seemed to be.

Thank you for the clarification. Now that I have the pan and have really looked closely at the baffle in particular, I'm sticking with it. For a baffle without trap door, the did a good job on the design. Slowing the oil running away from the sump is one thing, allowing a path back is important as well.
