    AEB engine rebuild questions

Hello, my friend crashed my 98 a4 quattro on a curb smh. He messed up my oil pan so the engine seized from no oil. I am about to get a block and throw in some new pistons, new rods, bearings, and crank shaft. my question is, will a rebuilt stock motor be good for building big turbo?

Depends on how much power you wants 300+ you need rods. The valvetrain I've seen go past 400. I'm iffy about that. But I know the pistons are good for 500. While its out upgrade what u can!

if you're getting another complete longblock, all you really need to do is hone the cylinders. Then new rings, rods (SCAT H Beams are drop in), and bearings.

AEB pistons have 20mm wrist pins and are forged. Some crazy dudes have ran over 700hp on them, they eventually crushed the ringlands, but impressive for stock units.

You only need to build the head if you are going to run a very large turbo that requires you to rev past 7,500 rpms.

IMO, it is foolish to rebuild an engine and use the stock rods. They aren't very expensive and it is basically the only internal limiting factor on how much power you can produce. If you never end up getting a large turbo, oh well, you are out $400. Except for then you can sell the engine for extra because it already has forged rods.

I am looking for about 300hp not looking to go too big. And when I build the head should I just change the valve springs? or valves and cams too?

if you're looking for 300hp, you can leave it all stock.

well my head makes noise anyway so might as well. I am looking to throw maybe a k04 on there and some bigger injectors but the problem im having is tuning. Is it a custom tune or s there somewhere I can get a ready tune? been searching all over and cant really find an answer

gonna be doing it all by myself with some help from our employees (my family owns a mechanic shop) when I get this tune you told me about, will I need injectors and maf and all that? or just the turbocharger?

    1)pick hp goal
    2)pick turbo
    3)pick tune
4)buy supporting mods as set by the tune

Your head probably makes noise because you have low oil pressure. If you're doing the head, replace exhaust valves with solid.
