Been in Austria/Germany the last week or so. Keep seeing what look like baby A7's. They are smaller but appear to have a hatch. One labeled A5 but def not a 2door. Huh?

that'd be correct. Europe gets the A5 as a “four-door coupe” aka sportback in addition to the coupe and cabriolet, whereas were stuck with only the 2 door variants. so, it's not your eyes playing tricks on you. it's an A5 sedan—albeit with a rear hatch.QUOTE=jstrebel;11722804]Will pull that A7 or is it A5 photo from my laptop.. Yeah, A5 sportback. There is also an S5 sportback with 3.0 TFSI engine, same as A7, pretty fast car with stage2 mod.

Americans, why are you wondering if some models are not presented on your market ?

And riddle me this: over the last couple weeks I've been in a few major EU cities and driven 400km through Germany/Austria/Switzerland and every road, even the rural roads that seem miles from anywhere important, are flawless. Not a pothole, not a crack, not a broken and crumbling shoulder, not an uneven patch, just km after km of amazing, smooth, flawless asphalt.

Why cannot the US do this? Phoenix AZ has some of the best roads/highways I've driven in the US and now in comparison to these roads... There is none.

One reason is that the US has more roads than any other country.

I think you've driven only on a toll roads and autobanhs. And you was in the 3 most rich and pedant EU countries. Go to west europe just to take a look and ask yourself WTF, is it europe ? =)

One of the reason that your and my country spending billions years on military, instead of the others, so the roads are not the number one in the yearly budget, another reason - big territory makes logistics more expensive than in small EU countries, third reason - cold winters in northern parts of Russia and States, in the middleseasons road surface wears as f*ck. And i'm not speaking about corruption, it exists everywhere.
