    Extended Paddle Shifters

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    Hey Guys,

Anyone install larger paddle shifters on your car? Not ones that stick onto the OEM but full replacements?
Would the R8 GT larger paddles mount on the stock S3 wheel as a full replacement?

This would look pretty neat and give a larger paddle.

I haven't seen anyone on here who has done the full oem replacement ones. If they have they haven't made a thread about it.

The R8 GT paddles do not fit these steering wheels unfortunately. The base and plug are quite different.

The extended full replacement paddles that work with these wheels:

These look identical to the paddles on my 2015 S3. Are they actually bigger?

Some A3 and S3 models will already have these paddles, others will not. Audi did some odd shuffling of which cars/years received these paddles.

If you have the same appearing paddles now as in the link there is no need to upgrade, same exact paddles.

If you have short black or aluminum paddles then the extended paddles in the link are a nice upgrade.

So is there any OEM type upgrade over these ones? From another model or something? I find even being one of the lucky ones, they aren't big enough. Thanks.

There is nothing that is a full replacement that is larger than the extended paddles you have.

There are carbon fiber extensions which can be made to fit your stock extended paddles:

Stick on paddles. They're extremely sturdy. I couldn't find replacements and I'm really happy with these.

TCHUN003, can you please post the link to the paddle extenders that you have.
Are you happy with the fitment and quality, cause some really look like S**T.
Are they holding up well and would you purchase them again if you had the choice ???
    Your opinions are appreciated.
    Thanx.

I'd purchase them again. I'm really happy with them and they are holding up well. I actually bought these on ebay, and they'll fit your paddles as long as you have a 2016. The 2015 paddles are a slightly different shape.

    Search item # 161937889678 on ebay. They're $27

These look great. Do you think the black looks odd next to the OEM silver paddle? Hard to tell in your picture, but trying to decide between black and silver.

I'm glad I went with the black, but I think the silver would have looked good too.

It's brushed black, with silver borders. Since it's brushed aluminum it looks like silver in certain lighting.

Let me know if you can print out something that works. I cut the bases up so the center hump was less of an issue, but would like to get something that fits and looks good if possible.

According to their site, they only go up to 2013 S3. Are the mounting points different or did you find something I missed?

Yes I'm pretty sure they purchased the same ones. I didn't even realize the fitment was slightly off until they pointed it out. You have to look closely from the sides to see it. I don't notice any fitment issues when I'm sitting in the driver's seat.

I purchased the ebay item that TCHUN003 posted above as well, and unfortunately they are not a direct/perfect fit for the stock 2016 S3 paddles !!!
With that being said, the 3M adhesive sticks to enough of the paddle to make it work well. Due to the incorrect plastic molded curvature of the paddle extension base, when attached there is a slight gap toward the inside of the extensions base in the area closest to the center of the steering wheel.
In other words it seems as if the base of the extension is sticking to just the outer half of the back of the stock paddles. But this is fine as the adhesive is strong enough to hold it and it's rock solid. The gap cannot be seen unless you really look for it and even then it's barely noticeable.
Besides it takes so little pressure to pull the paddles to shift into the next gear that the extensions will never come off !!!
By the way...it takes 20 minutes for the adhesive to achieve 50% of its ultimate strength, 90% after 24 hrs. and 100% after 72 hrs. and should be applied between 70 and 100 degrees !!!
Until something better comes along these work just fine, look great, cost just $25, and solved my issue of having to reach up a bit for the stock paddles more than I like as I hold the wheel slightly below the controls.
    Thanx TCHUN003.
