I want to keep her OEM+ and so on, what are some must do mods, and any good sites to browse parts and so on.

For ambers i used paintscratch to buy colormatched spray paint with clear coat for a DIY. For leds i just went on ebay for wedge bulbs and festoon canbus for the license plate. For exhaust and other mods, @mops@supremepower

Congrats on the purchase! My first R8 was a Silver 2009 V8. You need to get R8talk.com, I'm a mod there, RS4cab. Pretty much everything I have got for both my R8's came from vendors there. Best way to get rid of amber is either paint yours or just buy ones already painted.
With my Red R8 only needed to change front.


Another cool little neat mod is puddle lights, About $25



Some good vagcom changes are getting rid of winking LED when using turn signals ans setting remote to open/close windows. If you need any help with these let me know.

Even though my car had LED Plate light I changed to better LED that you could put on your car, you can see difference.

havnt gotten around to disabling the LED turn signal though ( or increasing LED % ). is it the same as changing it for the b8 platform or you wouldn't know cause that car is too peasant?

btw, the window roll down didn't work for my buddys 2016 v8 r8. is the coding different for those? he has the options enabled but he does not get windows in the dash to enable

edit* oh and I see you have black badges. where did you get them? I know a lot of people got them from oem plus, but is it the same if I were to get them from audibadges for both rears since front does not use clips? or is the front special since the hood is sloped?

Correct he scrolled but does not see the window option at all

The dewink, keyfobwindows, emergency brake abs blinking, lap timer, and needle sweep were all doable. VIM hack as well but we didn't attempt it.

My 8500 x50 has survived me for a decade now. 99 insurance rating for life yo! V2 firmware if I send it in gives me almost equivalent 9500 performance without gps. The beep is more pleasant than the v1

The display that comes with Escort 9500ci is whats used, installer took it apart and put in the mirror. Another option that I used before getting installed unit was mounting 9500ix on passenger visor. I hate having a detector bouncing around on windshield and wires running from it. Putting on visor was very simple and can't be seen from outside, then just ran hardwired power cord under trim to the fuse panel under passenger side floor mat. IF you go that way you could then just add ALP jammers, don't even need to come into cabin since you can use iphone App to control them through bluetooth

I dont have a R8 (yet) but i have the passport 9500 as well but i use the blendmount. Check it out. Its a mount that attaches to the rearview mirror. Mount is very solid and my detector stays perfectly placed now.

Yep I did same, no one better when it comes to quality and price than Rick at Unique. I brought my car to him last Spring for detail with paint correction then xpel ultimate put on. I met Jeremy there and he was just opening his shop, JK Automotive Designs, we talked about my escort jammers being obsolete because of new guns being used and decided on putting in ALP Jammers. So while my car was there got everything done. I also had the Cquartz finest put on and it really makes color pop and car very easy to clean and maintain the shine

yup, they do, there are actually 2 ricks there. rick neslon/ unique does detailing, ceramic coating. rick jefferies/ automotive elegance does the xpel. both great. known Rick J since the mid 2000s. just met Jeremy recently, I was impressed by his work.

Curious. How many miles? I was debating looking for a used V10 but scared of the higher mileage cars due to repair costs.

Mine will have 27K miles I think. mid-high 20's at any rate. Had the shocks redone 2K miles ago on all 4 corners, with 4/48K fidelidy platinum warranty

Great that it recently had all 4 corners done, can be hit or miss getting done with extended warranty as car gets older. The other thing that tends to go on R8's is AC and it's an expensive $5k+ repair but your warranty will cover that. At some point you might want to have it checked for carbon buildup, I had tech check mine when supercharger was being installed. Car had 22k miles and some build up but not terrible so he gave it a good cleaning. If you're handy it's something you could do yourself

I'll have her carbon cleaned every 20-25K miles just as the RS4 had been. I'll prob get it done next oil change to be honest. Yeah I heard about the AC, that's crazy to say the least.
