Hey guys I'm a b5 s4 guy thing to help
My buddy in an 09 s4 apr stage 2. His cooling fan is always on, temp switch? If so where is it located? Common problem? Gauge says it's fine. I scanned it and this is all it pulled up.

    Hi Bud,

That sounds like the dreaded thermostat / waterpump issue. Mine started like that 3 days after buying a B8 Avant S4. It was staying on constantly and then after about another 50miles the waterpump gave up and temp shot up to 120!

Then it was a trip back to the dealer to get thermostat and waterpump replaced!

check the pinned waterpump therapy thread.

Assuming the always on fan is not because the AC is on.....Get your thermostat changed ASAP...before the engine fully overheats! ( The thermostat kinda "half-fails" for a little while, then it will break completely and you will have a full overheat condition).

The temp gauge on the dash does not accurately indicate the actual coolant temperature, it is purposely dumbed-down, the needle stays at the center "normal" mark for actual coolant temps between 175F and about 225F, it only moves above center when the car is in a full overheat condition, with coolant temps above 225.

The Evap DTC code has nothing to do with the thermostat issue.

Try turning off the A/C first and then see if the fan still runs.
