Question B6 01E Swap into 04 tiptronic Allroad. need help with a few questions...

Hey everyone, Thanks for your time! I have a 04 B6 S4(4.2) with a 6 speed manual 01E for parts and my 04 2.7T Allroads tiptronic is acting up so im thinking about doing the 01E swap from the B6 to the Allroad. ive done some research but could not find much info on the 01E swap on Allroads. found mostly about A4 and A6s wich is pretty much the same. from what i see, it seems like it can be done without major issues but i couldnt find info on the clutch pedal cluster and driveshaft and which rear end to use. Can anyone confirm if i can use the B6 pedal cluster on my Allroad to add the clutch pedal? can i use the clutch disk, pressure plate and flywheel from the B6 4.2 in the Allroad? if not, which clutch kit should i use? and i believe the B6 S4 has 4.11 rear end and im not sure what i have on the Allroad so what would be the better one to use. i have both entire cars so i can get whatever parts i need from the B6 S4 to use on the ALLroad, but trying to see about what im getting into before i get started. Any info on this will be greatly appreciated. my Allroad is a 2004 2.7T tiptronic. my Parts car is a 04 S4 4.2 6 speed manual. Thanks in advance!!

i thought the b6/7 s4 used the 0a3 trans? anyway for 01e into allroad you will need the 4.11 diff to match the trans and allroad specific manual axles and propshaft or an extension for your original shaft. you will need a6 shift linkage and shifter assy, not 100% sure about pedals but i think a4 a6 used the same pedal cluster.

Hi Allroadmark. Thanks so much for your input. You are correct! I checked the trans code on my parts S4 and its FVD, which falls into the 0A3 trans Family and not the 01E. Does this mean i cant use it? Whats the difference between the 0A3 and 01E? And also, about the 4.11 gear ratio, can you or anyone confirm that i have this rear end already on my Allroad? And what about this B6 S4? Do i also have the 4.11 rear diff? Again, i really appreciate all the help! Rob.

That's what JHM put in the S/C 4.2 Allroad they talk about here:
    http://www.audizine.com/forum/showth...3-6-Speed-Swap

You can do it, but there are a few little issues to address like the lack of wheel speed sensor. I think that other than the transmission most of the swap parts do not swap B6 to the C5; axles, driveshaft, pedal assembly, flywheel, shift linkage... fairly sure they won't work.

Call up JHM or even better ask questions in that thread. Maybe they can share specifics and have solutions for anything that stands in the way of transplanting it.

V6 platform'ed A6/Allroad doesn't work well if at all with the 0A3. No provisions for trans mounts, transmission length is different and different style of axle and shifter linkage. To make it work you'd need all custom length axles, custom mounts, custom shifter linkeage, and custom length driveshaft.

Just get the 01E like everyone else and call her a day. No need to make things harder on yourself.

totally agree. sell your s4 and buy an 01e, its factory fit versus modified to fit.

it doesn't matter, you need a diff with the same ratio as the trans you use and i dont think the s4 diff will go into the allroad. most 01e were either 4.11 or 4.375 in the allroad specific 01e. everyone seems to dislike the 4.375 final drive from the allroad . does anyone have any experience with the 4.3 ratio and tdi a6 gearing?

Allroad 6mt rear diffs were 4.375. Allroad auto diff are 4.875 if i remember correctly.

I've put tdi gears with the 4.375, 4.11 and 3.89 final drive ratios.
