This is the crankshaft gear, the tensioner and crankshaft seal. You will need the pump and chain for conversion as well as the proper pick up tube (short one if I recall). Many threads cover the purpose of conversion but I'll give a short version.

Removes balance shaft assembly. Lighter the oil pump balance shaft assembly, less stuff then the balance shafts, depending on opinion less trouble then balance shafts.

Yes good point, from what I've read 1.5 litres possibly more in the oil pan, another 1L if adding the mocal or similar cooler. This calculation is an estimate I have not yet confirmed how much oil my system will hold.

What the hell is the vacuum canister? I have done the 1.8t conversion as well as the metal oil filter housing per the IE plate, never used that thing.

To be honest. It came in the box of parts from MEC. or it got mused into the box of parts returning from builder. Odd some stuff got shipped back other things did not. I had a complete 2nd working oil filter housing that seems to have disappeared. I think maybe they thought that canister was the housing shipped it to me anyways. Lol

I have no useful info on it. But I have got the oil cooler from the 1.8T and the shaft required aswell.... Just don't know how that happened being it was attached to housing #2 that wasn't returned.
