    hello all - long hiatus

    Hi all,

Just wanted to drop a new "first" post and say hi to folks. I see a lot of familiar faces such as Tanner around =).

Just traded in my previous (and first) Audi, which was a 2008 Mk2 TT Roadster. Some of you in the Markham / east toronto area may remember seeing it around because there was always a yellow lab strapped in:

Unfortunately my TT co-pilot and lab of 12 years, Abby, passed away in April. I was already looking for new vehicles but her passing (and impending new puppy in a couple weeks) got me out shopping with a purpose. This time for something with more than 2 seats!

My mom always bought our cars (dad was an CAF jet pilot and thus not allowed to pick cars) and drilled into me as she was doing so "always talk to the service manager to get their perspective on cars". Well, was asking my service manager about his thoughts a couple weeks ago (was actually thinking of settling into an A4 allroad or a q5) and it turned out he was turning in his 2016 S4 with 13K Kms on it. Test drove ... fell in love instantly. I've had it a week now (and did the 4 hour trek to Ottawa to visit the puppy at 6 weeks) and very happy with the ride.

Will be asking you guys for a bit of input on Tuning as still would be concerned about things like warranty. But I see that even 7 years later, APR still doing a brisk trade in chip tuning. I may actually mod this time -- I ended up not doing anything to the TT as it was a base FWD version, and just happy as a simple roadster (was never going to perform or handle like a TT with a proper roof =)). But this time ... feels like a couple simple mods may make a large difference.

Again, hello to old contacts here - and looking forward to meeting new ones!
    Scott

Hey Scott, sorry for your loss. It's always hard losing a friend like that. Congrats on the new purchase. You'll love your S4.

I would seriously consider looking for a supercharger pulley after a tune, and a full exhaust. In honesty, those are likely the only engine mods you'll need to turn it into even more of a beast. If you haven't yet, check out JHM. They're long time Audi tuners and cut their teeth on the S/RS platform. Having said that, there are some other great tuners out there.

From there, you might want to look at your suspension, but that may not be for a while yet. It's still very new, after all.

Mostly, welcome back/hello and enjoy your new found toy. Hopefully she and your new pup bring you many, many years of fun and big smiles. (What breed is the pup?)

    Cheers!
    Lucy

I've taken on a bit more of a challenge this time -- Shiba Inu. Going to be a seriously intense training and socializing schedule this time around =).

    Sorry to hear about Abby!

It's been two years now since we last bumped into each other that one day?

You'll like the S4, might not be as nimble as the TT but it's a great car for all year around. I haven't done anything to mine really other than the Alu Kreuz and a flat-bottom steering wheel.

Sorry about your dog. That's always tough. If only they could live as long as humans!

Get the alukreuz. Also the cr15 brace.

    This alukreuz fits your car.

Welcome to the S4 club. And nice color choice!
If you have the time we are having our monthly meet tomorrow night (Thursday) at the Home Depot parking lot near Yorkdale.
Quite a few stock and modded S4's going to be there.

So sorry about your best friend. One (of several) reasons I won't get a dog again for a long long time.

Thanks for the welcome (back) and kind words guys. And Bruno, yeah it's tough but it was actually looking at rescues (www.dogtales.ca) that sort of turned me around again.

If anyone ever wants to visit a strikingly beautiful farm, have a fantastic meal, and meet some wonderful dogs and people, drop by dogtales.ca (19th sideroad in king city) on a Sunday. I didn't end up getting the dog I applied to adopt, but just the experience was great. And um ... 19th sideroad is a beautiful drive =).

Will try to catch up for next month's meet -- friends stopping by to see car tonight (and be driven somewhere for food).

Tanner, ABant -- regarding the Alu Kreuz, I'll need to catch up with you guys as to why my drivetrain needs stabilizing =)
EDIT - Read an article on this, nvm the explanation. Sounds like a very worthwhile mod. Any warranty impact? Recommendations for an installer in GTA (I'm in Markham)?

Compared to the OEM, the OEM is fairly flexible compared toe the alu... amount of flex between the original and alu:

My opinion only.... for street driving that's all you really need, it's a nice improvement. Others have gone a step further with an upper strut bar...

I think a blind test should be done to really see if one notices this on the street or not :)

Speedstar up on Bullock Drive. I've never used them but know quite a few that have used them. Installing the alu kruz is pretty straightforward. Remove old part and install new. Recommend to use new stretch bolts vs re-using.
