Somewhat stupid question but here goes...

I upgraded to the RS4 mesh grille (about 2 years ago) and opted to go badge-less at the time. I'm interested in putting the rings on now but am hoping to avoid taking the entire bumper off again as that was a massive pain in the ass. I was able to find all the old parts to put the ring holder on and purchased gloss black rings to fit. Wondering if anyone has done this before and how bad/easy it was? Thanks for any advice!

Don't need the ring holder, simply pop off the top part of the radiator shroud. Should be four pushpins, then pull up and towards the back of the car. Epoxy four plastic screws to the rings (Walmart has the plastic nuts&bolts in the license plate holder section). Simpler and cleaner imho. Will post pics later.

You can also try using 3M emblem adhesive. the stuff sticks like hell and is super easy to use. I used it to glue on the S4 enblem to the RS4 grill and its been on for 3+ yrs now through winter and summer. no issues.

Pics follow - I cut off the head of the plastic bolt with a razor blade, used loctite super glue to hold it in place, then JB weld epoxy to make it permanent.

To attach to the grill, super simple - grab a thin piece of black plastic and cut out washer type of pieces, or just get washers large enough to keep the rings secure on the grill when you attach the plastic nuts to the four mounting points on the rings.

No risk of ruining the grill should you want to swap out for black rings, chrome rings, no rings, etc. Tape could potentially make swapping rings somewhat dicey.
