255/40 on 19x9.5? Does it fit?

So i know the OEM 19" size is 255/35/19. I have been presented the opportunity to buy 4 brand new pirellis (300 miles on them) for $200. They are 255/40/19 off an A6 black optics. The black optics wheels are 19x8.5, while the wheels i plan on purchasing are 19x9.5.

What i am wondering is will the 255/40 tires fit without rubbing once i lower the car? Likely installing the h&r Oem springs with a 1" drop.

Taking a look at your "future" setup, you will not rub running the 255/40/19. Keep in mind though, it's a higher profile tire so your overall diameter and sidewalls will be taller. It *might* look a little funny.

Yea thats what im wondering. Im curious if the extra 1" wide would stretch the tire slightly and make the sidewall profile a bit lower.

I run a 255 width on 9.5 wide wheels and I don't really care for the look of the stretch, I plan on going a little wider next set of tires I buy. I'm not lowered but as much room as I have on mine I can't imagine that it would rub even going from a 255/35 to 255/40

I think it will look goofy with the 40 sidewall.

OP: have you ever put on those 255/40 tires on your 19x9.5 wheel? I'd like to see some pictures if you happen to have any.
