    Question Audi a6 2.8 30V anoying smell

    Hello,
I have small (or big) anoying problem.
I have read hundreds of forums posts, articles and etc but still have no clue what is happening to my beloved car.
So to get started my problem is oil smell from engine compartment. It only shows up when engine is really hot and after I push it a little bit (overtaking or faster acceleration) smell comes up after acceleration is over car cabin then fills with suffocating smell, after 10 seconds smells dissapears.
    Camshaft plugs are not leaking
Breather hoses are gathering a little oil but it cant produce such smell.
Entire back of engine has no significant leaks to produce such a smell.
I understand that smell should be coming from oil pouring down on exaust system. I can see little droplets of oil on heatguards of exaustmanifold, but i cant see any source of it and I do not believe so little oil could produce such a powerful smell.
In addition no oil gathers under the car (no matter how long it is not driven).
    What I really know:
Valve cover gasket is not leaking
    Camshaft plugs is not leaking
Breather hoses is (but is really minor)
Blauparts suggest it might be Cam Chain Tensioner Gaskets and Seals. How can I check them for good.
Maybe other suggestions, I will try to take photos this weekend of engine compartment with full descriptions.
Guys I really need help... 2 years of intense search for such a foolish problem make me almost want to sell this car because it is embarrassing to take passenger because on a hot day I need to drive like I am carrying eggs not to produce bad smell...
Help needed...psychotherapist in this case maybe would be best... but still maybe YOU can help :)

The cam chain tensioner (CCT) gasket and plug is at the back of your motor just under your valve covers (VC). I've never needed to check mine without having the VC's and associated hardware off, but you could probably get a visual on it by using a mirror and a light.

FYI, the VC's need to be removed in order to get to the CCT. If it turns out the CCT gasket needs to be replaced, you'll want to do the VC gasket and rings as well.

Let the "While you're in there..." decision making begin!

Thanks for information, adding all up it is only CCT which should be leaking and probably is... This weekend I will try to inspect it and make as much photos as possible for future guys with similar problem.

    Here some images
Half moon seal (not leaking nor the tensionair seal !)

Drivers side manifold (I see one drop of oil)

Passanger side manifold (Not even a drop of oil)

So if there is a problem it should be in the drivers side of engine. But I cant locate the source...The smell gets worse and worse every day, but there not even one drop of fluid is found under car at morning. I seriously don't get it. Breatherhose is leaking, but it so minor and it should't reach manifold or anyhot surface. I checked valve cover gasket but no major (or even minor) leaks were found.

The smell is so deep and suffocating and last 20sec after harder acceleration so I am expecting major leak... (I refill oil every two weeks with 100g of oil..). I never use air conditioning so I dont get it how the cabin is filled with so much fumes..

I can almost guarantee if it isn't the cam chain tensioners that it is your valve covers. What makes you think it isn't them. It is a long seal and could be leaking from many locations.

Well my awesome imagination told me that if valve cover seal would be leaking it should soak all around the perimeter of the gasket because it has a little groove. But I agree with you it is only valve cover seal or valve cover it self cracked some there in front of the engine and leaking to the front of manifold there I can hardly inspect.
I think only reasonable think left to do is to change my valve cover gasket with brand new.
