    Anyone have luck:

    1) cooling down their Black Vue 650 in the sun???? It gets hot as hell.

    2) The B&O amp and cubby gets so hot the cover actually pops open. Not sure why this gets so hot.

    Any thoughts.

I've got a blackvue and never had any problems with the car being in the sun all day.

Blackvue - Windshield Tint. Even 70% carbon tint will reject a lot of heat. You could tint your entire windshield or just the section that covers the dashcam.

Welcome to hell...there is no escaping the relentless molten hot, dry desert, blow drier of June July August that we call Las Vegas summer.

My volume knob down by the shifter stops working if the car has been sitting in the hot sun a while (GA 95-100 degrees usually). Gray on black leather with carbon trim just soaks up the heat. Will work again once it cools down. Fortunately steering wheel controls and main MMI knob are unaffected. Anyone else have this issue? (2015 S4 with NAV, B and O, Carbon trim)

i had an issue with both volume control on wheel & console not working for CD , but both worked on radio, problem clear up 3 days. I suggest you bring car in. Shop foreman told me they would up date software for entire car. I decided to leave well enough alone.

I take my camera and V1 down for extended parking times to minimize any damage to the units. Put it in the glove box (where it still gets hot, lol)

I have the two channel version and place it way up high to have the tint strip covering it and it still gets hot. I think it is a combination of the unit itself and the sun. But yes, my first unit (bought from authorized dealer) malfunctioned twice. First the included microSD card was fried. Second, the unit itself overheated, and the speaker was all garbled when it says "blackvue is recording". Both times, the dealer fixed the problem, sent new card, then sent me a new (likely updated) camera. (dealer Rear View Safety, Inc. - good seller)

Get a camera that's powered by a plug plus a capacitor vs a plug plus a battery. Never need to take it down.

The Blackvue 650 cameras are powered by a plug + capacitor, "temperature-tolerant super capacitors " as described by blackvue. I have mine hooked up a Power Magic Pro (so it retains power even when the car is off) and turns off via a timer or the car battery gets below a certain voltage.
