Goodbye S4.......Hello M3

Well guys i said goodbye to my S4 and got into a 2016 M3. I did enjoy my S4 but the M3 is a different animal ..

On the S4 i had my 20x9.5 Vossen vfs1 wheels and i kept them. So a shot in the dark is there anyone that has a set of 19in wheels and tires that are 5x120 for my M3 that would like to trade. My wheels are good condition with 85% tread

I know this is an Audi forum, and you probably expected this, but the S4 is such a better looking car IMO. I always like the E30's and E46, but BMW lost their design style with the E9X's. Good luck with it and the trade. The S4 was smoking.

I can agree with the S4 looking better but something about the M3s aggressive front end and the wide rear end got the best of me and i just fell in love.

The new M3 is really nice, interesting color you picked. Get wheels on that thing, those are the worst ones they offer.

Lol...congrats! I traded my E92 bmw for s4. I have a new set of 19" VMR v721s in my garage with Michelins super sports that are 8/32s front - 9/32s rear. I only had them on my car for 2 months, rims are mint, no scratches, scuffs or marks. I can send you individual pics if you like. Only issue...my sensors would not work on your car (I think they changed them in 2012)...but, they can be sold for what you need.

These are the specs (wheels are staggered):

Wheels are VMR 19" V721 - 5x120mm
--Fronts - 19x8.5 ET 35
--Rears - 19x9.5 ET 33
Tires are Michelin Pilot Super Sports (PSS)
--Fronts - 235/35/19
--Rears - 265/30/19
TPMS Sensors are Huf/Beru for BMW RDE008

When I was looking at M3's - I was planning the same wheel set. Perfect for winter snows...especially if you're one to buy aftermarket rims anyway.

I agree. That is why i am looking for someone with F80 spec wheels to trade my vossens for since i have no use for them other then putting them on my Passat lol

Yeah its a stripper. But has everything that i wanted/needed. Premium sound, nav, leather and 6speed.

I just picked it up today so it will receive some upgrades soon.

Yeah i just got really bored of the S4 for some reason. But the wheels are 20x9.5 ET40 With 255/30/20 tires. The springs were just h&r sport springs.

As a current B8 S4 owner, I'd take that M3 anyday. I truly love the S4, but you can't but smile driving a new M3.

I definitely enjoy it more then my S4. Tough crowd on the Audi forum though. Noone seems to like it

I approve wholeheartedly of your choice! I would've done the same - 6MTs tend to come with lower spec, but as you said the wheels will do for a nice winter set and the anthracite works well with the yellow.

I think an M car calls for some quality wheels - BBS, CI-R maybe?


Getting the sense that some of the people here are a bit defensive about their "taste" in cars...

Good choice, i love the M3. The B8 has been 'long on the tooth' for quite some time (i own a B8) and the B9 had minimal changes in my opinion. The entire Audi lineup has had minimal changes aside from the new Q7. I have been sadly disappointed as of lately and I am unfortunately planning to buy a different make when I buy another sedan.

I've always had a liking towards the M3 sedans more so than the coupes. I think with the correct mods that color could look pretty good. As it stands it's desperately calling for some personal touches/mods.

Have to agree with that, to non enthusiasts m3 & 335i can look really similar on standard colors. Even harder when the 335i has wheels/lowered & "M" like mods. Well hell some of them even come with the M package like my friends 2013 335is.

Those two colors pictures I would be able to tell pretty much right away its probably a M3 in traffic etc. Well I would know anyway but it would stand out MUCH more. M cars usually come in more wild colors compared to Audi.

+1 & I even drive a S5 coupe right now. IMO the e90 4 door and the M3 look awesome in 4 door, I'd take it over the m4 coupe. Nice balance of mature, aggressive and practical.

Please tell me you didn't buy the piss yellow m3, of all the colors..... piss yellow. It's the only way I can describe that yellow, it's too dark for gold, not dark enough to be bronze. Like it's the Nissan juke of colors.

Sad to see you go - as a previous M3 & M5 owner while I lived in Germany....they are fun cars - if you get the chance do M School in Germany....or next time you visit for Oktoberfest pay for the M5 experience on Nürburgring :)

Enjoy your M3 - but I have a feeling you will find you way back to a Audi (just wish we could get that here in the wagon....thats the car that ALWAYS flogged my M3)

I absolutely love the Austin yellow. It only took one drive in the M for me and i was sold :)
