I'm not really married to using any of these companies, but it seems like there's a lot of angst towards specific tuners. I don't totally get it even with some of the history I've read. (
Full disclosure: I have an APR tune and just got the EC sways installed.)
For 034 and EC, they seem to have both borrowed from each other. The 034 X-Brace just looks like a beefier copy of the AK. The EC drivetrain and transmission mounts appear to be exact copies of the 034 ones. In both cases, someone came up with it first and someone else made their own version. There's just not as much you can change when copying a billet aluminum piece that has to fill a void. I did find it interesting that nobody really lambasted 034 about their rear sway bar being sold for the Q5/SQ5 without ever having been even test fit. I doubt a company like APR would have gotten a pass on that like 034 did. That was actually the reason I went with the EC sway bars, because I knew they had at least tested them in-shop and on-the-road on an actual car.
For APR, I do get why people are annoyed about how they market things, especially after the stage 3 debacle. That being said, I'm glad that it sounds like they're at least still working on the platform. Before they announced anything, people were complaining that they weren't developing anything for the platform anymore. I'm just taking an "I'll believe it when I see it" view given their past history.
