    Help! P0299 and P0140 Codes

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
So I was on the highway going very fast, (around 130) and my check engine light came on. (Lets put all discussion about speeding and safety aside) I scanned the codes and got the current fault P0299 code - Turbo/Supercharger Underboost and the pending fault P0140 - O2 Sensor Circuit No Activity Detected Bank 1 Sensor 2. I've done my research about the P0299 code and people have been saying its my DV, waste gate, or a boost leak. Would going as fast as i was on the highway affect any of those components? My car (2009 A4 Avant) seems to be driving perfectly normal even with the CEL light on, so I'm wondering what could be causing the codes. I had the car checked out at Audi about 2 months ago and they did say my turbo bearing was failing, but I never had any other confirmation that their diagnosis was true. Any help would be appreciated, Thanks!

Probably need a turbo. Did you ever get the wastegate arm recall done?

the car is driving fine and i hit 136 and 130 again after the code came on along with 120 a couple times. since the car is driving fine with the code do you really think i would need a new turbo? and no i have not gotten the waste gate arm recall done

That P0299 will come and go under load, but won't change the fact that the wastegate isn't sealing properly. If your bearing is failing as well, I would suggest you change the turbo sooner rather than later. Depending on how many miles are on your car, you may be covered by that TSB, but I would call AoA to VIN verify before you remove your tune.

Warranty extension was 7years/70k miles or 8/80k (can't remember off the top of my head, but one of those links will tell you), but just call them before you go removing anything.

If you have to change it at your cost, why not consider a K04 option? The swap for either isn't that bad if you can follow directions; check the DIY sticky.

I'm really starting to think you're trolling people.

i am also getting these codes and since i am at 105k the recall doesn't apply for me has anyone done a K04 direct swap without getting the full K04 kit?

i did my research on the codes, i thought my situation was different so i made a thread. my car doesnt have a td1 with audi so I'm just going to flash back to stock and see if that works. I talked to the dealer and they said my car is covered under the 7year/70k miles warranty just as long as i don't have any software on my car at the time. If i have to pay out of pocket I'm planning on going ko4.

Good luck. If you do decide on k04, don't forget you'll need to budget HFC and down pipe that match up.
