07 A4 needs a new engine or Should I just move on?

Hi all so I have an 07 a4 with 120K that I need to replace the engine due to me being a dumb ass and not check the oil consistently... which resulted in breaking the timing chain. I need peoples opinion.
Keep in mind I still owe $6,000 on the car

    here are my choices:
1.) just get ride of it as is and go into a lease
2.) get an used engine with 100K for $3600 to do all and trade it in for a lease
3.) get an used engine with 75K for $3900 to do it all and trade it in for a lease
4.) get a Crate engine for $4500 to do it all and then drive the car and hope it last for 3yrs

with a new engine will the car last 3 years? What are some things i need to consider?

You owe $6k and is and old car at this point to spend $3600 is ridiculous. i'd trade it in and get a lease. now if you owned the car that's different i'd get a used engine an call it a day but that's just what i would do.

If you're going to spend the money for an engine, you'd be better off spending the extra money for crate engine considering it's only $900 more than your cheapest option. Taking that into consideration, you still owe $6000.00 on the car, you may end up upside down if you trade it in. Your best bet would be to fix it, then sell it to breakeven. In my honest opinion, spend the money wisely. If the crate engine is an option, do it. That engine will last you well past 100k miles. Just be sure to stay on top of the oil and maintenance next time around.

First of all, why is an engine costing you $3600? Auto Haas in Paterson may have an engine, which is tested, and would cost you $2250 or so. Or some random deals on craigslist (one was $2750; or try contacting this guy for a better deal: http://cnj.craigslist.org/pts/5570716861.html). A replacement engine will last years and years if you keep on top of the maintenance. And Audis are particular for maintenance.

What you need to consider is: What's your long-term goal? Are you looking to own a car in the end without payments? Are you ok with perpetual payments? Or are you looking to dump the car in the next couple years? This is an aging platform (2.5 generations old now) and values are really decreasing. Are you planning to mod it at all?

I would absolutely be doing this and then driving the car as long as I can while paying it off.

Im wondering why your chain snapped and if you kmow 100% that you ran it low on oil or just assuming. It could be caused from lack of oil pressure but did you check the HPFP and follower? If those are shot and your car is under 120k it shoukd be covered by warranty.

I still don't understand why you would ignore the low oil light coming on in the dash, but some people...

Perhaps if the short block is still okay maybe some parts can be salvaged and just rebuild the head? If you have some know how a rebuild will cost less than buying another engine.
