Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Can anyone send me a link to a DIY for installing lowering springs? I can't seem to find one.

Sorry if this has been asked before but I've tried searching and came up empty :/

    Thanks

These are for coilovers but essentially the same thing. Just putthe stock struts back in after changing the springs instead of replacing them with the coilovers.

I would personally do it the right way and go coilovers.

First off, do not use your stock shocks. Do it the right way and get new shocks meant for the drop otherwise your stock shocks will give out after a short period of time. Plus the ride won't be as good.

Right way? You mean your preference?! Springs are great and I've had a great experience with them!

The links Sauci provided are the same two my buddy and I used to remove the stock suspension and install the Bilstein B12 Kit this weekend - everything you need to know will be in those two threads. Rear is a PITA as you need to lower the subframe in order to get the spring out.

As Infiltrator said...do both shocks and springs at the same time - your stock shocks won't last and you will be back in there in less than a year.

FWIW - very pleased with the Bilstein B12 Kit - perfect drop and didn't really sacrifice ride quality.

Many of the bolts are torque to yield bolts which are required to replace however the general consensus that I got from researching on a couple different forums is that they are ok to reuse. I ended up using the same bolts

I was able to do the rear without dropping the subframe. If you have the type of spring compressor that goes on the outside of the spring, rather than the middle it's possible to just barely get them in there

Honestly no. I called my local shop to get their two cents - although it's recommended they always give the customer the option (at their expense). It's not going to keep my up at night knowing how much work it was to remove and reinstall to torque spec

So I have the compressors that go on the outside as well but we struggled with the tight space to work. I picked up these:
    https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00SX...GnL&ref=plSrch

Worked great for the fronts. But the rear was a PITA. Once we dropped the subframe we were able to fit the compressor on and spring was out < 1 minute.

I had to do each facing a different direction and stick the wrench through the spring to get it started lol. But I also have a 5 so there might be more room down there
