Which plug would you use factory, NGK copper core, NGK platinum 4

and seeing how i have not done it on an audi yet do i need the rubber insert for the socket to not damage the plug when removing and installing

All of the audi forums that I have searched have gap variations ranging from .028 to .044. Anyone know for sure what the correct gap setting should be for my vehicle and spark plug? I know the torque setting is 22 ft/lbs.
