so i bought an s4 about 8 months ago and it had its problems. so after fixing most of the problems i finally tackled the one that i wanted to for a while. I finally fixed my boost leak and finally got a taste of more than just stock boost but yet another problem has came up now. I contacted the previous owner it has a Unitronic stage 1 tune so it hits about 16 to 17 lbs then bleeds to 14, but sometimes when i am in it hard for two or three gears it drops back to the stock boost level. once it does the boost level drop if i cycle the key it will let me run tuned boost pressures again. my question is why doesn't it just let me run the tuned boost pressure all of the time instead of going into we'll say "limp" mode.

Do you have vag com? My guess is you have another boost leak that you didnt see. Check for codes and do a boost leak test

Definitely running into limp mode. I agree with f4m0u5. Start with a boost leak check and go from there. And yes try to get hold of vag com.

because its seeing something wrong and is trying to protect you from yourself. Nothing weird about it, its acting as it is programmed to do, self preservation. Scan the car to see what its finding issue with.
