CarboTech XP10 & ECS rotor track experience discuss

Hi guys! I just had track day with S5 on CarboTech XP10 & ECS rotor front and XP8 back. I have to say that I am disappointed by braking power/bite. I have to brake way early than I thought, no much improvement compare to stock pads. I changed to ECS brake lines, ECS rotor, flush brake fluid with ATE 200 gold and pads only one week before the event. My friends M3 have much better in braking... I know S5 is heavy car but get discouraged bit. Want to hear you guys opinion! Thank you very much!

I wouldn't trust ECS brake components as far as I could throw them. I currently have had and currently have a few of their house brand products and I always expect it to be pretty poor quality. They have never failed to meet my expectations. I wouldn't expect their rotors to be any different.

Were you experiencing fade? You may want to try a more aggressive pad like the XP12s as the S4 is a very heavy car. Pagid RS29s also get great reviews.

The ECS rotors get great reviews pretty much everywhere.

Thank you for your input! What brand of rotors do you suggest? Any specific type you had good experience with?

Thank you sir! All I feel is the bite sucks, even I was just trying on the street, feels mushy and I can not brake to the threshold point... Maybe I should get better brake fluid too?

Theres a lot going on here potentially. Aside from the inferior brakes on the car, they may be sufficient depending on your ability on the track. The next question where what and how your applying brakes on the track. Braking performance is a bit complicated. Did you bed the pads and rotors? And did you do it sufficiently? I hear so many people with this complaint to which I ask did you bed them, and they reply "oh yeah man, I completely locked them up a couple of times to set them real good".... This isn't bedding. Ill save the explanation and send you to youtube to learn how to do it. Sounds to me like the problem. Especially on a higher heat compound pad and new rotors. Without bedding them, I wouldn't expect them to bite at all.

I have the ecs rotors and lines as well as carbotech. But, I use Motul 600 a superior fluid and I also use xp12 front, xp10 rear. I find the bite incredible and more than enough for this car at high speed into a braking zone. In fact I find the pads and rotors are now outperforming the Michelin PSS and I am slightly skidding. Any more bite on the pads and I would need r comp tires.

As stated above you need to bed these types of pads carefully, they are not street compound they are high heat activated. The procedures on YouTube will help. Last time I did it I almost puked from the constant harsh braking. These things really bite.

I run carbotech xp12''s with a stop tech st60 brake kit. Bite is fantastic with the carbotechs. Never tried the 10''s, but I can vouch for the 12's. No fade, great initial bite.

CarboTech XP10 & ECS rotor track experience discuss

I've run 2 sets of Carbotech XP 10 for my Brembo GT 380 for 10+ track events, and couldn't be any happier. Cold bite is bad, once they get hot they bite as hell.

I have had two track days this year with the ECS rotors, SS lines and Motul 600 fluid. I am running the Hawk HPS pads. I have no complaints on the rotors at all, but it's time for a more aggressive pad. My times are getting better, so I am braking later. I was trying to avoid running two pads, one for street and one for track. Question for the OP, are you boiling out any fluid? What is the boiling point of the 200 fluid? Aside from the expense, a big brake kit would be best, but until then, I am leaning towards Pagid or Raybestos.

2nd this. I had issues with their two-piece rotors...they never told me what the issue was, but they seemed to get glazed, and cracked/warped with Hawk HPS. I love Carbotech pads, so my guess would be the rotors.
