Adams H2o guard and gloss clea paint damage?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Washed my family car using the Adams Shampoo after rinsing it off sprayed the car with detail spray and began using h2o on the hood. Due note it was a solid 98 degrees out with high humidity. After spraying I quickly wiped the hood off and noticed a weird looking spot that looked like gum. However there was nothing of the sort there while I was washing. I tried a side panel and got the same result in another small spot. Now I have two questions 1. Is this product prone to burning through clear coat if used in the heat? Also, will the only way to fix this be by reprinting? See the images below.

That is bizarre. The G&G is a simple sealant and as such, isn't something that would/should have any abrasive or corrosive properties whatsoever. I've used it in similar conditions many times. Browsing the web, cannot find a single other report of anything like this. In fact, I don't think I've ever heard of any sealant causing paint damage.

Does this car have factory paint?

Can you describe what we're seeing in the pictures? Is that the actual paint that has softened and "gummed up" in the first shot, and in the second, has the paint been stripped from the panel?

I looked online as well and thought it was weird.

It is factory paint. The first image is the hood it was originally like the second picture as I was wiping down the car and noticed the spot. Unsure what it was I wiped again removing that bit of clear coat. I then tried the side panel second image and then saw the same type of spot after spraying. It is the gummed up spot.

I have never seen anything like that, WOW. Have you called them up, we have used this on 100's of cars with no side effects like that.

Were you able to remove it?

I have called and posted on their forums. Haven't heard back since I emailed their team but figured it's been busy since the fourth. I will probably give them a shout tomorrow to follow up.

As for removal no. I polished the area with my flex or 14-2 and it cleaned the area up but nothing more.

That doesn't look like anything caused by the product. IMO it's just a very textbook image of clear coat failure.

I had a friend stop by with her 2012 Honda Accord (Black) and as I was cleaning it I noticed the same thing. she thought it was tree sap or something but it was clear coat failure.

This defect was likely present before washing the car. The Adam's products just finally got your car clean enough to see it.

It almost looks like sap to me, being as in the polished pic, it looks like it got moved around. Take some alcohol on a MF towel and hold it on the area to see if it makes it able to wipe off.

Expired/old product maybe? Not mixed or shaken? I'm assuming there is a shelf life that may have been exceeded. Also if the product has a low tolerance to temperature it may have reacted to the temps on the surfaces. Wierd though I would def call manufacturer for explanation
