    Odd window problem

So all of a sudden my drivers side window will not roll down. At the same time all passenger windows can be rolled down from the driver control. Yet none of the passenger switches work. I tried using the key in the door to roll down the windows and they all roll down except for the drivers window. I scanned the Comfort module and found no faults. First thing i will do tonight is look for any bad wiring in the door to body crossing. If the wires are fine I guess it could be the door module or Comfort module. Has anyone experienced this, or have any input? Also all interior/door lights, locks and mirror motors work.

Well I should have known it was a wire. The broken Red/Gray wire is a communication wire that comes from the Comfort Control module and ties into each door module. The broken Lilac is for auto dimming mirrors. With this driver side door Red/Gray wire broken, each individual window switch does not work. Hope this may help someone someday with the same problem. I butt spliced it for now. Off to the salvage yard to look for a decent harness or buy new for around 200$

Thanks for posting the great pics! This will be very helpful for others since this issue will continue to increase as the B6 platform continues to age.

Drivers door. Open the door and it is right there by the hinge. The cover between my thumb and finger has those four clips holding it in to the car body. I just pushed on one side to disengage the clips and then repeated on the other side. Then you can push the rubber boot assembly toward the door to inspect the wires.

Edit: Sorry I thought you asked for the location. Good luck.

Do you know where to get the whole harness. I just checked and I have 4 broken wires and the rest are all brittle.

Looks like ECS or the dealership for new ones. I am going to a salvage yard first to see if any of those are worth using. If not, then it looks like ECS for me.
