Im going to have having my intake valves walnut blasted. Im going to be ordering a catch can to HELP prevent so much carbon build up. There is so many options. What the hell is the difference ? Is one better than the other ? Is it all brand preference ?

Others: please correct me if I'm mistaken -

It is mostly look at features of the catch can that is the difference. However, I believe, the ECS setup is built completely wrong and is not 'intercepting' within the PCV circuit correctly.

Going back, some features, such as the CTS one, it has a little dipstick on top so you can see the level of can. This is why I chose to go with that one primarily.

I read in another thread that blow-by is more prominent when running e85, so even though I'm a B8.5 and the oil consumption issues were supposed to be addressed should I be considering getting a catch can too?

I just installed the spulen catch can today. I liked the shape, price and it was an easy install. Also has a dip stick which is convenient.

Yes but how effective is it? I ran the ECS for a few months and found it to be detrimental to my gaskets health and not helping. I would really like to explore the 034/CTS can as they look similar and look to beef up the stock PCV system. Anybody with those systems please feel free to chime in...

They pcvs look the same and the spulen has been around for quite some time. The only difference is the actual can.

I ran an exhaust-routed PCV system on my GTI for 6 years, over 100k miles. No issues. No PCV failures and kept my valves cleaner.

Catch cans are not completely useless, but they'll only filter a small portion of the solids/oils. Venting to atmosphere or routing to the exhaust are the only ways to keep 100% out of your turbo, intercooler, intake...

The 034 kit is the best out there but really the best thing to do is run water meth setup it will keep valves clean and is very healthy for FI motors
