    Water below ECU tray

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
So I have now encountered on 3 occasions after a car wash and today when driving in heavy rain, water that gets in down below the ECU where the harness enters the firewall. I have the standard ECU cover and rain trays. When this occurs I get all the epc and wavy traction lines as well as codes for steering angle sensor which puts the car into limp mode. I finally tracked down where it is getting wet. See pic attached. Any one have this happen before or have a solution to keep water out of this area? Thanks.

The gasket must be seriously damaged or the cover is cracked. Of course, mandatory that all the cover screws must be installed
TO be fixed ASAP since the car brain is right there

All screws are in place. Will have to check the gasket. Will see if I can compare my cover to another to make sure it's the same. There are no cracks in it. Thanks.

Got the part number to the cover. Googled an image and mine definitely does not have the flap that covers the section where the harness enters the firewall.

Not right now. I am traveling. Borrowed some tools to take it apart, dry things out and then put it back together. Car is parked in the hotel lot.

Turns out the cover was missing the back screw mounting point. Picked up a used one. The seal from the bottom of the box looked good, so only needed to replace the cover.
