Well after the car failed STG 1 because the light came on at around 450 miles into the test I have now brought the car back to Audi for STG 2. I was told that even though Audi corrected the problem and most 2012s don't have the consumption issues apparently where my car was built towards the end of 2011 it fell into the category of the motors that had the problems. I have used 0W-40 Mobil 1 since I have owned the car and only put about 10k miles of the car in the last year, I do all my own maintenance unless I have an open recall I will take it into the dealership. I would say since owning the car I have put in about 6 quarts of Mobil 1 in the last 10000 miles not including the 4.9 I did when I changed the oil for the first time at around 5000 miles after ownership which had me thinking I had a leak somewhere but I never had oil under the car or in the skid plate but I still went looking and the motor was spotless no signs of leaks anywhere so I called the dealership I purchased the car from and they told me to bring it in. After Audi went looking for leaks and doing some other things they ended up doing the STG 1 test and sending me on my way and told me if the light came back not to add a quart and get it back to them asap, or bring the car back after 750 miles. I made it around 450 miles and got the add 1 quart message so off to Audi I went. I am going to have the timing chain done while the motor is apart and was told they would only charge me for parts which comes to $400, I am early but I don't feel like doing it in another 60k miles so I am letting them go ahead with it. I have done many timing belts and chains in the past so I know I am capable but I figured if they have it apart I will let them have all the fun.

and it was pretty simple I feel I could do the chain and I like to do my own work so I know it is done right but maybe the next 100k I will have the chance to do it myself. I was giving a brand new 2016 Q3 with 12 miles on it so driving it back to the shore I put another 140 miles on it, not a bad SUV but I would rather throw the money at a Q7 if my wife ever wanted to get rid of her 3.2 A3 S-line as the Q3 feels like a lifted version of her car lol.
