    Introduction of sorts

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Hey everyone, I've been a long time lurker of the boards and post here and there but have never made a formal introduction.

Facebook told me the other day that I've had my RS4 for 5 years now and thought it was time for me to say Hi.

Ever since the RS4 was released I thought it was the perfect year round daily driver for our Canadian climate. I was lucky enough to work at a shop north of Toronto that dealt with some fairly high end cars. One day a customer came in with an RS4 and that was it. I was on the hunt to find one for myself. After that it seems like other customers picked them up too and we ended up taking car of 6 or 7 of them. It was great, I got to see many of the issues that we have all been plagued with. I purchased the car with about 70,000Kms (~44,000Miles) and I just rolled over 230,000kms (~ 144,000 Miles). The maintenance costs have been pretty high, the gas consumption has been pretty high, the cost of ownership has been very high but so has my enjoyment of the vehicle. A perk of my old job was routinely getting to drive cars with MSRP well into the 6 figures and everything I drove (save for a 997 GT3RS) left me missing the RS4 after a pretty short time. I feel like I've had many of the issues that most RS4 owners face. Carbon build up, DRC issues, oil cooler issues, high pressure fuel pump issues, motor mount issues, fuel injector issues and tons more that I'm sure I just can't remember, but sorting them out was part of the fun. I've always been a car guy and not afraid to get my hands dirty a bit.

I've also done a little bit of upgrading:

    Flat bottom TTRS steering Wheel
    AVIC 8100NEX Head Unit
    Avant Garde 19x9.5 M580
    KW V3 Coilovers
    034 Adjustable Upper Control Arms
    034 Motor Mounts
    Upgraded Trans Mount
    Upgraded Diff Mount
    JHM Shifter
    Tubi Mufflers
    Custom Mid Pipe
    Custom Downpipes
    Gruppe M Intake
    JHM Intake Spacers
    F1 Tuning ECU Tune
    Hotchkis Front and Rear Sways
JHM Brake Rotors Front and Rear
    Staineless Steel Brake Flex Lines

I've learned alot on the forum and hope that can continue.

Thoughts always pop into my head about if I should look for a replacement for the RS4, but I always think about what could make me like driving as much, and I'm not sure I have a good answer to that question right now, so it looks like I'm in it for the long haul.

Amazing to heard that you have driven many 6 figures cars and RS4 still come back to you. I am just started 6 months ago at 161K, slowly pick up bit and pieces.

Hi guys, I'm also a new member. Just got a '07 black on black RS4 sedan with 89k on 6/19.

    Current Mods:
    KW V3 coilovers
    JHM front rotors

    Planned Mods for this week:
    Carbon cleaning
    JHM intake spacers
    JHM oil separator heater delete
    K&N air filter
    Brembo rear rotors/pads

Maintenance this week: New spark plugs, new fuel filter, checking intake box flap functionality, oil change, radiator flush, new power steering fluid, new transmission oil

    Future planned mods:
    Michelin Pilot Super Sports
JHM full 2.75" exhaust (with high flow cats and no resonators or Vbands)
    JHM tune
JHM lightweight crank pully and new alternator belt
and when the clutch goes out, Lightweight flywheel

If I'm missing something important in the maintenance or mods, please tell me. About the JHM lightweight crank pully... What is required to install this? Can I get away with just removing the front bumper or do I have do put it in service mode? What needs to be removed for the RS4 to be considered in service mode?

Thanks in advance, and I do not mean to highjack this thread... I just thought it was along the lines of the OP's introduction.

Looks like you've done your homework.
    Welcome to the Zoo.
I'm not much of a K&N fan. But last week when i changed my air fliter, the cold weather pre filter was plugged up pretty bad. Stock Pic for reference....

Thanks for the warm replies everyone. Just like any online forum, you have to take most things with a grain of salt, but there are some great members that have already been very helpful without even knowing it.

I love the RS4 and am happy to be in the company of others that do as well.

    Found them here: http://www.ebay.com/itm/111924943212
I checked the part numbers and they seem to be legit Brembo. If you go through the fitment list the B7 RS4 is on there

Wow, you took me way back... that was the very first thing I removed. It did catch a lot of bugs and butterflies though.
Better off cleaning that every week, than changing out air filters.

Op- great selection on the Tubi. I've had the pleasure of hearing "most" exhausts offered to the RS 4 (in USA), inside and outside the cabin and the tubi was hands down the best sounding. Even better than my capristo at the time. Great car to have if your live in Canada.

Always thought the RS4 was a great daily/sports car too. 5 seats, 4 doors, 4 wheel drive and a nice V8. can't afford the RS4 right now but a S4 will do. great color!

Be careful. Brembo website does not list rotors for B7 RS4, only fronts. I could not get a copyable link, but start here: http://brembo.mycarparts.net, and you'll come to here

    B7 RS4 rear rotors are 324mm OD, two-piece (i.e. floating rotor).

The link you found shows 330mm OD one-piece disks, Brembo p/n P85099N, which on the Brembo site http://brembo.mycarparts.net/product...N/buyers_guide, does not show the B7 RS4 as one of the fitments.

Oh, how I wish you had found Brembo rear rotors that fit our B7 RS4s, but alas, not to be. Also, want to save you the heartache of discovering this only after purchasing rotors that don't fit. HTH.

The S4 is still a great car. I lucked out with me color. The shop I used to be at had at lease 4 Daytona Gay and 2 Silver cars. Mine was the only Mugello so it was unique. I still love the color too.

    Thanks
