How do you remove the interior panel for the trunk so you can access the hinges?

Has anyone removed the interior panels for the trunk so you can access the hinges that guide the trunk lid for opening and closing?
I just got it back from the shop and would not like to take it back there if I could help it. Someone hit me last month if you're wondering why it was there.
Anyways, It opens and closes fine, except for when it finishes opening, right at the last maybe, 5% bit of it, it seems to let go of it and it doesn't open soft anymore. It's like it's opening too far.

This outlines the parts I'm talking about:

    Any advice is appreciated!

    Assuming it's anything like a B7...

Remove the 4 tie downs (chrome pieces, 2 screws each). Take out the spare wheel cover. The rear black panel there (that surrounds where the trunk latches) should be held in by a couple screws. Those need to be removed. At that point, the trim should pull out (may be tough because it's clipped in). Be aware that the passenger side has the 12 V line and cubby, so it will also have to pull kind of upwards until you disconnect the wiring. That should let you swing them out of the way, but not completely removed.

To fully remove it, you'd have to remove the rear seats, IIRC.

Or if the B8 is different, then I apologize for wasting your time.
