TCM GLX's 2013 Q5 2.0T build

Hey fellas... so I am excited to be back in the Audi game... been a long time VW fan, and had a couple Audi's (you'll notice I was an early Audizine member). Was fortunate enough to be an a A4 back in the day when Anthony got Audizine up and running.....

So been lurking after getting rid of my 2012 Passat and itching to get into another Audi. I work from my home office, and really only drive about 100-120 miles a week (plus I have a 98 Expedition and 93 Bronco to drive as well) so I decided a 2.0T was a good choice. Not looking for the monster power of the 3.0 or SQ5. Anyways, eyeballed a used Q5 at my local Riverside dealer about 40 days ago... and patiently kept an eye on it.... down down and down the price came as nobody wanted it... well struck a deal and it is mine now.

The Car: 2013 Q5 2.0T premium, with Sunroof delete. This thing is BARE BARE BONEs... only things it has are HIDs, and for some reason the Black sport headliner (which I love). It Ibis white with Chesnut Brown (which is exactly the combo I was after). So here we are, build thread begins.... I have been a long time buddy of Eric @ Supreme so he was one of my first calls (MOPS, you would have been next if he didnt pick up, your ride is a inspiration brotha!!).

35% Tint front windows

Interior:
SQ5 Pedals
LED Bulbs throughout

10" Boston Acoustics Subwoofer

TCM GLX funny seeing your screen name on this page after seeing it on the Passat forum for so long. I've been wanting to make the switch from the Passat to the Q5 but haven't done it yet and have just been lurking on here for a while. I am still waiting to see what VW is going to do for us TDI owners since the trade in price on my NMS was not awesome.
Congrats on the new ride looks like you have a solid plan for making it yours. I look forward to following another one of your builds.

Right on Brad.... i sold the Passat to my brother, gave it to his son as a 16 yr old present... kid was on cloud 9. I am digging the Q5 so far.....

Well wheels just showed up...... plan is to mount tomorrow, little snafu, forgot I need spacers to clear the front brakes. Pulled all the stock wheels to paint the calipers and did a quick test fit. Pics below.

Went with Vorsteiner VVF-102 with the 20x10 et30. MAJOR MAJOR kudos to Eric and Mops at Supreme, for a killer deal on the wheels, and major support on the spacer situation. If all goes well, will grab a set of 10mm tomorrow, and then off to pick up my tires.... have a set of 285/40/20 waiting.... then will leave the Q alone.. for a week or so until I get it lowered.. HAHA

Check out cars245.com for your Ecodes. You can get a set for $600 delivered. You might have to wait a month, but if you aren't in a hurry it's worth it.

Holy shit! I would do bad things to have a clean B6 Avus Avant. I even named my pup Avus. My old car....

Looks good! Did you end up running front spacers up front?

So again, a major shout out to SUPREME POWER, Eric, Mops and Tam doing a great job to take care of me. Long story short.... with a 20x10 et30 Vorsteiner, the wheels are Deep Concave causing a problem with the front brakes. I chose to go very meaty with a 285/40/20 and you require a 10mm spacer to run that wheel setup. I honestly was not pleased with the look of the wheel and tire combo. It stuck out past the fender too much in my opinion. A quick call to Supreme and they went to work..... we decided to go with a 20x9.5 et 37 (we knew this may require a spacer, but would likely be only a 5mm).

Eric went and personally picked up some wheels and asked me to drive over to the shop. They had a set of the wheels in brushed aluminum and I decided that matched better than the graphite... so on they went. A 5MM spacer was indeed required in front, and we used a 10mm spacer in the rear to get a bit of extra width. So post spacers... running a 285.40.20 all around, on 20x9.5 et 32 front and et 27 rear. SUPER SUPER happy with the look now..... H&R springs are on order so excuse the 4x4 look.

So this weekend, did the front Lic plate delete. Haven't snapped a picture of that.

Installed a PPI i650.1 mono amp with a 10" Boston subwoofer. Planning to do dual 10" shallow woofers in place of the spare tire eventually, but this will do for now, plus I had this sub and the box in my garage. Sound upgrade was impressive, much more bass. Still need to build a beauty board to mount the a,p, will do that next weekend.

That Metris is way cool, it's a Mexican spec model (called Viano in Mexico) and comes with a 2.0L diesel. Gets killer fuel mileage on the highway.


Update, HR springs are on, appointment to get the, installed tomorrow afternoon, I'm beyond Jazzed!

And so the springs are on!! Very happy with them, did the -1 HR spring setup and it rides fine. Not harsh at all, a little bounce on full bottoming, but I suspect that comes from shocks, which I will upgrade to Biksteins next, so no biggie.
Supreme crew continues to pull through.

Thanks guys, I'm pretty jazzed!!!

Next up is some small stuff, LED fogs, better bulbs for the factory headlights, RS pedals and then ECode headlights hopefully. Will post up some info on the headlights, a good potential alternative to the Philips bulbs, testing out set of bulbs from Retrofit Source.

Saturday update!
H11 LED fogs, SQ pedals, mounted my sub knob and made a beauty board to hard mount the amplifier.

Few small updates, picked up a pair of PIAA led reverse bulbs, a dipstick from ECS and some ecodes....pics coming soon!

Well, went ahead and pulled the trigger on the ECodes through Arjun (ag_autohaus). First of what an absolutely pleasure to deal with Arjun. Responsive, good pricing, an excellent DIY and all i5ems commuted followed through on accurately including product.

Now on to the swap, was text book. Took about 2.5 hrs. Only thing I did differently was use a set of Retrofit Source D3s bulbs in 5500K to match the ACME LED fogs.

Coding for what? For the ecodes I shut off the corner lights, for the fog lights I didn't do anything.
