Other avenue's to jack up the "5" without my PureMS jackpad

Probably a dumb question and i went about doing it right, but JUST my luck....

I bought one of those PureMS jack pads with the pinch weld cutout on Sunday, everyone seems to like them. I lost my old one that i had, I even paid Expedited shipping which cost MORE than the pad itself to insure id get it by Friday. I thought it was weird they weren't answering their phones on Monday to see if expedited shipping was even needed. Long story short called today as no update, the guy who handles shipping was on vacation . So nothing is even being shipped until he gets back, i am sure other people aren't happy. Oh well nothing i can do now. Gotta keep trucking on!

Any other safe ways for "me" & the "car" without tearing up the pinch weld , i won't be under the car. I searched around most guys like the hockey puck, some don't. I am just changing my wheels out this Friday, are there any other points that i can safely do a wheel swap? The place that is mounting and balancing my wheels won't physically install them if i didn't buy them from them for liability issues. Guess that is more common than you'd think with aftermarket wheels. I haven;t even had my car long enough to even jack it up for anything, all oil changes are done via the mighty vac

Found this via a old mops thread Worst case i guess i will go the hockey puck route. I have no idea why they wouldn't notify their customers they wouldn't be shipping their orders out for a week and change.

Put a piece of card board on the jack and jack from the pinch weld, you will be fine.

Haha, love that pic. And my 2nd gen Impreza FL in the pic too. Would love to have that car back.

I use a piece of thick rubber, or fold a rag over a few times. Cardboard would work good too.

I make mine from a short piece of 2X4 with a slot sawed out. I place a shop towel between the block and the car.

@Jpatterson, that is also a good idea. I might go that route over the puck.

FWIW, I considered ordering from PureMS as well, but the shipping cost was a joke. I picked up an identical one from ebay and surprisingly 20$ shipped/received in < 3 days from West coast to East coast.

I just use a hockey puck. Works just fine and super cheap to replace.

Other avenue's to jack up the "5" without my PureMS jackpad

@amareo Nice! One day, one day...

@joshdub how deep are you cutting the slits for the puck? I assume you are only leaving about 1/4" since a pucks only 1" thick. Just curious. My jack does have rubber on the plate but I'd just like to do what I can to keep my pinch welds looking nice. I'll only be jacking up on wheel at a time to change. Cardboard and folding a thick piece of rubber while probably work if I get lazy.

This should work, had this puck laying around since I was a kid. I'm a Flyers fan so no worry cutting it lol. Those pinch welds are pretty well coated, much better than past American sports cars I've had in the past.

I left about 1/4" and angled it slightly so the weld sits in there nice. Just a quick hack with a handsaw. Hopefully not too deep it splits it & ill probably have to file the slit bigger. "That's what she said!"

Tires mounted & balanced for pickup. Just waiting on the wheel bolts to get here tomorrow .

Best investment I ever made, love mine. You get the 110 or 12volt? Hope it still fits since I've lowered my car. They're under my other car in the garage at the moment so I can't test it. Here's old vid lifting my A5

Got the 110v. Lucked out and bought them used but in new condition. The guy sold his project before he got a chance to use it. I've had a set of Eurocode trans and diff mount inserts waiting to be installed for weeks, so hope to get a chance to put the Quickjack to use soon.
