    LED fog light replacement recommendations

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I did some searching around the web and Audi forums for some input on this, but seems like most of the posts were from last year or older. I'm sure I could have missed something more recent so I apologize if I did, but I was hoping to get some recommendations on what LED bulbs to put in my S4. The ones that seemed really good were the VLED VX3 that someone on here put in about a year ago, but they don't sell them anymore in the H8 bulb and looks like they are only on closeout for H7 bulb. I kinda liked them because they were an all-in-one solution. I've seen people mention the ones member t8ups has sold and Hoen xeonmatch. I don't really like the Hoen ones because they don't seem to give off a lot of light. I'm not looking for blinding output, but someone decent would be good. I was hoping to find a solution that was in the 2500-3000 lumens output, that closely matches the headlight LED, and that hopefully doesn't throw a code. And I'm not sure if it will matter or not, but it is better to get one with a fan or fanless? Thanks for your time.

Maybe I'm confused about bulb types, but from searching around, it says my '14 S4 has a H8 bulb. So the '15 Allroad has H11 bulbs? I looked on VLEDs website and it looks like they don't have any H8 bulbs available. I had emailed them and they said they had the SMZ model, which appears to be fanless, but there was two problems. They won't have the H8 bulbs won't be available until early August, and it looks like I would have to buy additional resistors because of the current draw. Looks like they don't have ballasts on these to prevent the "bulb out" indication.

Nevermind about the bulb question. I looked around and i see that H8 and H11 bulbs are the same base so for LEDs can be used interchangeably. So I could order the H11 version they have on the site. Thanks!

I have these in my fogs: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B019IDMAXO

I had to modify the base a little bit to make it fit. (H11 vs H8)

They are not super bright(400 lumens) and a little too blue (6000k vs the DRLs at 5400k)

I will likely replace them at some point but, they are still much better than stock.

    ------------------------------------------------------------

I had an Amazon Giftcard laying around from graduation so I ordered a different set: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01C6FPSA8/

I suspect they will also be too blue but, should be far brighter.

They should arrive tomorrow. I will let you know what I think.

These just came in for me. Supposed to be 3000 lumens per bulb. Came in with some filters to change color, someone on here said that without filters they're same color as the headlights. I will throw them in later today and report back.

Ok I put one in. LED is on the left side of the picture, not quite an exact color match but definitely brighter than stock incandescent bulb.

You should provide some photos in the dark when you have a chance.

The main time I use my fog lights is when I am out in the country and want to light up the side of the road to keep an eye out for animals.

That, and the LED bulbs look better when I unlock my car.

Sorry about that. I really was trying to provide the OP a review of the VLEDs.

Sorry for such a large picture.

I bought the Philips LED fog bulbs from Amazon and I have been really happy with them. More light on the ground and the beam pattern is still nice and sharp.

How much did they end up costing you?

Hopefully not the $125 they are currently

I paid $125, but I had some birthday gift cards to Amazon so in theory I didn't pay full price.

do the b8's throw codes when switching to leds? the b8s always throw codes when switching out the reverse lights whereas the b8.5's dont. Wanna make sure its not the same situation here.

Alrighty, got some more pictures in a dimmer environment.

This picture is with only the fog lights on. You can see that there is no clear cutoff like the incandescent on the left, but it's much brighter.

This one is with foglights + headlights

And this one is fogs only, I was trying out the yellow filter on the left fog in both of these.

I used a proper camera in manual mode and kept the exposure settings the same between the two pictures so brightness can be directly compared.

I'm pretty happy with these for 45 US dollars. Gonna run them with the 3000k yellow filters for a while and maybe switch them out down the road. Again, no codes on dash for B8.5,

    I'm running LED fogs. M'Autolite Fanless - http://www.hidconcept.com/brands/M%27AUTOLITE.html
They are very bright. VERY! I've been driving my wife's car with her following me in mine at night and they are almost obnoxiously bright.

I have a question regarding the led bulbs. If my standard fog light bulb is 55W should I stick with a 55W LED replacement?.

It doesn't really matter in my experience. Most the bulbs I have tried have been 35W.

I have these now in yellow. Make a note, they fade over time. I ended up doing laminex to keep the yellow nice and sharp. Disappointing for the price.
