    Help With Chipwerke Pro

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    Hey everyone!

So I recently just purchased a chipwerke pro from a forum member. It finally arrived today, and I was super stoked to install it. Prior to installing, I called to make sure the program on this chipwerke would work for my car, and the customer service people said that it would, I would just need to change settings from 6-1 to either 5-1 or 3-1 (no 93 octane in CA).
I turned the settings down and installed it. However, when i start my car, it will rumble for a little bit, and then shut off itself.
Has anyone heard of anything like this? I tried multiple settings, and all produced the same result of rumbling a little bit, and then shutting off.

    Thanks!

I have the chipwerke also in California on 91 octane. 3-1 setting is perfect. Make sure you only changed the dial on the left side, the one on the right should remain at 1. I would also reset your ecu and if the problem still happens I would send it in and have the company look at it.

Do I just reset the ECU by unplugging the battery and leaving it over night?

I also installed mine temporarily last night and drove it for about 20 minutes. No idea what the setting is on as shipped, but I had no issues at all with stalling or shift lag. It got too late to scan the car for codes with my Vag-Com but once I do, and as long as they are clear, I'll finish zip tying the whole thing in.

I don't have a chipwerke but have the racechip version. I had issues when I first installed it and whilst my car didn't shut off, I had the car idling rough and also experienced shift lag. Their customer service is really crap to say the least and i ended up working out the issue myself. I had accidentally reversed the plugs, so please check your pin configuration it should be labelled 1,2,3 etc. so make sure all the pins lined up in order. Once I had the right pins lined up everything worked well...

As I mentioned previously, I installed mine Tuesday night. I went in tonight and ran a scan with my Vag-Com. Found the following code:

    1 Fault Found:

    9605 - Manifold Pressure / Boost Sensor 2 (G447)

    P0240 00 [032] - Implausible Signal

Intermittent - Not Confirmed - Tested Since Memory Clear

    Freeze Frame:

    Fault Status: 00000001

    Fault Priority: 2

    Fault Frequency: 1

    Mileage: 94129 km

    Date: 2000.00.00

    Time: 00:00:00

I opened up the chip box and saw that it was sent with the settings set to 5-1, which seems high to me, even if running 93 octane.

5-1 is the recommended setting for octane 93. As for the fault code, you either have a loose connection, a bad connector, or a faulty box.

Yeah, the code is showing that your bank 2 map sensor is not connected. So as stated by danny, you either have it not connected all the way or correctly, a broken map sensor (on the car) or map sensor connector (on the CW harness), a short in the CW wiring harness, or a short in the CW box/connector to the harness. Somewhere it is not connected.

Thanks Mike and Danny- I will reinstall it again tonight and scan after a run to see if that is the problem and go from there. It is possible that I may not have had the locking clip all the way down on one of the sensors.

I had the Chipwerke 'S' (not the pro), and now I have EPL Stage 1, and I can say that the Chipwerke 'S' torque output is similar to Stage 1 except that the transition into the higher torque output of the Stage 1 tune is smoother than that of the Chipwerke box.

Not sure I'm following. I don't track my car, just want to get a few extra horses and don't really want to spend $1200 on a tune.

You're following, EPL for almost half that price. Flash from home too. If price is the issue then I see what you mean but I wouldn't even waste my time with the CW if you're out of warranty.

I was on the chipwerke pro in CA and i ran 4-1 no problem. Thats what murat told me. So if you want a lil more umph on CA 91 octane bump it up to 4-1.

You didn't say anything about the tcu tune before, you can look around for a cable used here on AZ. One popped up the other day. I think you get a better deal if purchased together instead of separately.

^ In my opinion that 1550 is worth it compared to apr's price. TCU tune is nice also.

    Honestly it really is not.

Compare that to an APR or other competitors tune where the TCU tune alone costs $1000 + the $1200 or so for stage I.

If you don't track your car and are not interested in the higher LC limits and better shifting you could get by just fine with only the ECU tune.

Would knock the price down to ~$1,100 or so I would guess.

here is the offer my local Audi shop just quoted me. APR retailer

    Stage 1 is $1,299.99

Stage 2 only requires the pulley to be added to your existing supercharger, an additional ECU flash (at no charge,) and you're good to go. ($2300 for parts and labor from stock to stage 2, this includes stage 1 and is the best money saving option

There's also a TCU tune that offers launch control in addition to a multitude of fine tuning to the transmission software. It's $999.99

^ You don't think 650$ savings is good compared to that apr price? I agree with him probably not needing the tcu tune. With a little patience he might find a used tune and cable for sale.

I was saying that the price was not that steep.

I do think EPL is a great deal and personally I would much rather go with a proper tune over the CW.

Ok, I misinterpreted your statement, lol. I agree with the tune over CW especially out of warranty.

UPDATE: Reinstalled everything making sure connectors were locked down, scanned clear after install, ran 20 minutes hard, scanned clear again afterward. Butt dyno seemed to indicate it ran stronger above 4500 and shifts were all smooth.

Just wish it made for a little neater install under the hood, I mounted the chip box in front of air box near headlight, and zip tied the wires everywhere.

$1550 is an epl stage 1 tune, cts intake and dsg tune. Stage 1 and the intake is $1050. without an intake your looking at ~$850
