    Replace Disc Brake Wear Sensor

I put new front brakes on my 2010 A4 a few months ago. My dash warning light came on recently. I took off the wheel and found that the brake wear sensor wire had been severed where it connects to the plug.

So, the brakes and pads are fine. I just need to fix the wear sensor. I bought this replacement wear sensor wire.

My question is, can I just yank out the old sensor from from brake pad? How do you do that? Will it just pull out with needle nose pliers? Should I pry it out with a screwdriver?

Or, will it be easier to cut the wires (on both the sensor wire coming out of the pad, and my new sensor wire) and connect them together, leaving the end in the brake pad?

Any tips will be appreciated. Thanks.

It pulls out with pliers and the new one pops back in, pretty easy.

I'm curious if there is a way to code out the brake pad light via Carista. I have switched to a BBK, and rather than tie a sensor to the tie rod, I'd rather code it out. Thanks for the help!

I've seen the option for that in VCDS, but no idea about carista.

No; at least not in the beta.

Honestly, I can't recommend Carista anymore. Support has gone down the tubes, and usability with an iPhone and the pay-per-use feature makes the $349 for a Ross-Tech super appealing. This is really a post for the Carista thread, but I have been trying to get my inspection service due light off for weeks, and have been contacting Support for, well support, but am always told to submit feedback within the app. I can't submit feedback when something suddenly went missing from a menu, not to mention that the Tools menu doesn't offer a feedback option.
