    Pre-tuned APR ECU install/swap

So here's the deal. I found a guy on here selling a stage 2 APR tuned ECU so I bought it thinking I could swap out my ecu with it after I got my updraded HPFP, 034 HFC, and carbino intake installed. Now that I have all the hard parts in, I went to the local APR dealer and they tell me they would have to wipe the previously tuned ecu in order to install it for me, making it essentially useless to me. Hopefully someone on here can tell me I didnt waste my money on this extra ecu.

Crack open the ecu. Use bdm100 and winOLS to remove the immobilizer and see if it works. APR most likely encrypts or remaps the entire ecu to make it hard to do something like this.

I'm having a hard time finding step by step instructions to remove the immobilizer. Completely new to the tuning world.

That's because it's very difficult. You might have some luck in the Nefmoto forum. Alternatively you could see if you could find a tuner who would be able to clone your ECU to the new one while maintaining the APR stuff. There's a reason why this is so hard...
